When I was very small, we once went to the local art gallery. Among many other works of art there was one of Yves Klein's blue canvases on display. My mom stood in front of it, and I remember asking her "Why are you staring at this? Its just blue. Its stupid!" My opinion hasn't changed all that much in the meantime... but here's the thing: That's the only piece of art I remember from that outing! The only one! And what's more, I certainly like making monochrome mosaics, this isn't the first one I've made by a long shot.
My mosaic version of this work of art probably shows how little I understand it: blue glass. Its all blue, just like the original, right? Oh hey, no look, there are twirly bits! There are glittery, and iridescent bits! Chunky bits and lots of grout lines! You can hold it against the light and its partially transparent! And oh no, there's even a frame round it, what on earth was she thinking?
Improving on the original or making a complete shambles of it? I don't know... you tell me.
This heart-shaped suncatcher has been made from two different thicknesses of steel wire, and an eclectic mixture of glass beads. These brightly-coloured beads make a rainbow on their way from left to right.
This large heart suncatcher measures 12cm (just under 5") high, and is 13cm (just under 5") wide. It hangs from a piece of purple ribbon, allowing it to be hung. You could display it by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home that needs brightening up.
Thank you for taking the time to view this heart.

Inspired by the works of Cicely Mary Barker, this handcrafted stained glass suncatcher features one of her illustrations~The Rose Fairy.
This oval design measures 15 inches tall by 13 1/4 inches wide, appx 38cm by 33.5cm.
This weeks theme was Windows or Doors, and even though I love to take pictures of windows, and probably have tons of them in my archives, I didn't have time to go find any new ones. I realized that this little suncatcher in my kitchen window has a little birdhouse with a window (or door) in it...so I thought that might be a good subject. The screen adds a bit of texture, that I rather liked : )
This suncatcher belonged to someone who lived here before we did, she was quite elderly, but an amazing character, who would tell us fantastic tales of her life, and she was a wonderful friend. I keep this in the window to remind us of her, and out of respect too, after all this was her home first. She has been gone a long time now, but we miss you Geraldine!

Sonvanger ek vra jou mooi
Laat hom weer vir my kom skyn
Sonvanger laat my verstaan

So nice song - freely translated Suncatcher:
See if you can catch me the sun
There's a room in the house, where we can hang the sun
it is dark at the window during the middle of the day
Do you remember how brightly the room could laugh
see if you can bring me the sun,
There's a song in the corridors
that the sun can sing
because it's still in the corners
this cold season
Can you see
what the wind and the rain
is doing to me
Suncatcher
I am asking you nicely
Let it come and shine for me again
Suncatcher
Let me understand
how a summer can, just like that
vanish and disappear
See if you can get me the sun
In my heart there's a little house
where the sun can stay
See if you can steal me the sun
there's a place in the garden
where the sun can play
Bring a little light
to the corners on my way
and a handful of rays
for the darkness in my heart
This stained glass suncatcher I have titled Bubbles in Glass, as it consists of 15 glass circles of varying sizes and 13 different clear textured and iridescent glasses. The glasses used here include: krinkle glass, dew drop, glue chip (etched), sparkle, rain drop, ripple, water glass, seedy, rough rolled, Vecchio iridescent, cord iridescent, Vecchio clear, floral, and one I like to call "fur", since the texture reminds me of cat fur. Each circle is a different size, graduated from large to small. This suncatcher can be hung horizontally or vertically with the circles running large to small, or small to large. There are two hanging rings attached, and either or both may be used for whatever orientation you prefer.
This stained glass bubbles suncatcher utilizes the Tiffany method of construction. Each piece is individually cut, ground and wrapped with copper foil by hand. The piece is then soldered together, and hand polished for a lovely glow. The seams and joints are left a natural silver color, and highlighted by decorative solder.
This stained glass suncatcher measures 14.5 inches wide, by 8 inches high, horizontally. Vertically, 14.5 inches high by 8 inches wide.

I created this heart-shaped suncatcher from stainless steel wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads in varying translucent shades. These beads make a rainbow on their way from left to right. This heart hangs from a length of pink ribbon.
This suncatcher measures approximately 9.5cm (just under 4") high, and is approximately 9.5cm (just under 4") wide. Hang it by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any corner of your home to add a little quirky, colourful style.
Thank you for taking the time to view this piece.
The snow was melting in the pale warmth of the afternoon sun. Then as the sun moved downward and the air cooled, the water formed icicles off the ends of the branches until the pines were glittering like Christmas trees.

This is hung a 14-inch metal ring using wire and glass beads. Assorted glass beads wee added to the top ring and bottom to create the suncatcher. To see everything, you need to view the pictures in full size.
The symbol pattern at my picot is great, but the written instructions have mistakes. Please contact me if you are making this and need help.
My cobalt blue glass heart.
Magnetic lasso, inverse with black background, changed light to right side, applied wind to edges and Voila!! This is just too much fun!
A painting on glass, depicting a tree silhouetted against the moonlit sky. I first painted a moonlit sky onto a sheet of glass, then wrapped steel wire around it. I then painted a tree onto the glass, painting over some of the wire. This wire forms a frame for this painting and also gives more texture to the tree. I've used glass paint, glass outliner and steel wire to create this piece. It measures 17cm (6.5") wide by 13cm (5") high.
Glass repurposed from this frame.
I'm so happy with the colors of glass that I chose for this one--almost like bright crayon colors.
This original design measures 12 inches tall by 10 1/2 inches wide, 30.5 cm by 26.5cm. The kitty gently picks a butterfly off the flower that it was feeding on to get a better look at it.
My new collection of "Sea Coral Glass Art" Collection. This stunning fused glass abstract design is 9" in diameter.
Perfect as Wall Decor art glass or a shimmering Suncatcher.
