In this photo, Naeemah Islam, right and Emily Wu William, left, take a quick study break outside of the American University Library on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016. While on their break, they are able to step out of work mode and step into social media as they catch up with friends and family on the phone.
My goal was to go for the lines he creates with the eraser. I find that very nice in his work. As well as the very minimal Mark's in the background.
Tonight I begin classes at our church's Bible Institute - Old Testament Survey 1 and How to Study the Bible. I'm excited and a little nervous.

In May we took a short drive up to Pine Mountain Summit and back. There were still some wildflowers along Highway 33, including this vibrant Scarlet Bugler.
The Nittany Lion congratulated Nicole Guise, a Penn State York student, on winning the Startup Challenge Logo Contest. Guise’s design was selected from among fourteen designs, and will be used on the Startup Challenge T-shirts and on a variety of publicity pieces. The Graham Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies (The Graham Center) sponsors The Startup Challenge which is a fun way for students to explore their big idea. This competitive program, begins on November 1, 2017, and consists of three distinct phases. At the end of each phase, a panel of judges will determine which teams will move forward in the competition. Registration deadline is October 27. When I first saw what I needed to do for challenge 6 (fill the frame) I had no idea what it meant. I asked some friends for an example and they said it can be anything you want it to be. I took the opportunity to choose something I was doing right then when I was thinking of ideas. I was studying. I wrote on my Whiteboard and it said "Study Time". I edited this photo by cropping the picture just a bit to show that the board is the only thing in the frame.

Duncanson is the first Afro-American painter to achieve international recognition. He was also the first to make what is called the Grand Tour. His mother was either Black or mulatto; his father, a Canadian of Scotch descent. Duncanson went with them to the United States but during the American Civil War returned to Canada, where he stayed from the summer of 1863 to the fall of 1865. His famous painting The Land of the Lotus Eaters was photographed by William Notman for his book Photographic Selections (1863) and exhibited by the Art Association of Montreal in 1864. The Canadian scenery the artist painted most particularly was the Eastern Townships, the area around and the Ottawa Valley. His stay influenced some of the first Canadian-born landscape painters, like Allan Edson, who had him as a teacher.
