Water dripping in front of a strobe light
A shot from an engagement session last week. Strobe info; miniTT1 with 430ex flash on camera, flexTT5 with 430ex II camera left.
I just love the colors in this. I don't care that it's blurry, and there's absolutely nothing photographically captivating about this photo at all, I just like it.
Aidan (4 years old) put this together after saving his allowance and working for the past three months. I'm not sure what's more amazing, him saving all his money for three months or the fact that he could assemble this. Anyway, three lights camera left and camera right were a foot or so away from the Legos. The master 580EX II shot a fill flash underexposed by 1 2/3 stop. The setting is a piano bench in Aidan's play room. He gave me a minute to take the shot before he grabbed the walker with a kung fu grip and wouldn't release it.
This is the first product of my new flash system. I have only one strobe going on in this image though. A softbox pointing down on me from the top left.
I'm really excited about my new lighting equipment. Now I have to just find myself some better looking subjects :)

My friend Dwayne owns a shop selling skates as well as teaching skating classes. To promote his various interests he held a power-sliding competition in Weinan, Shaanxi, China.
I took along a couple of YN460 strobes, my 5D Mark II , 24-105mm F4 and my 135L.
It was very crowded which made getting good shots tough, especially with the longer 135L.

Aldi multi-story car park was the next and final location for the night. A heavy and confident wallride from the rail was what the doctor ordered and the shot produced was just what I was looking for.

Had a Photoshop class with Tim Buerger today.
Worked on some of the photos I did in a previous strobe lesson in Minato Mirai, Yokohama. Now it feels like the lesson is complete... from the shooting to the post-production.
I was never a huge fan of flashes and non-natural light but I really like the results of this class... time to practice!

Rylan Sampson, 17, graduated from Missouri Western State University with a degree in mathematics and physics. He plans to get another degree in computer science and then move on to graduate studies. Once he's finished with his classwork, Sampson said he would like to be a teacher. "At least by then my students will be younger than me," he said.

One snooted strobe handheld in front to paint light on computer and surrounding papers.
Light details: Snooted strobe very close, with an orange gel. Fill from below camera, with blue gel, through white umbrella. (The fill light is also what gives the highlights in the eyes. If I do this again I'll try to get the fill light much softer and get bigger highlights at the same time).
Taken in a mostly white room, with the cold fill light at much higher output than the main light. It really shows how important distances are.
