Strobist - went off the kitchen idea (because my stuff isn't as shiny as your guys') and tried out some different objects. All shot with a D100, SB-28 on a hotshoe extension lead, and one or two boards of A3 foamex to mess with specular highlights.
just had to take a picture of my new alienbees b800 strobe with shoot through umbrella. Sitting in my basement while i learn to use it.

Strobe bounced off white carpet! I perched the flash on the edge of the coffee table, angled toward the floor, moved the flower pot near the edge of the table so the flower could lean over the floor, and voila. It worked like a charm.

I rented some strobe lights for the holiday and I wanted to play and test them out before Darren got here. Megan came over and sat for me. We did several sittings with lights in different positions, but I think these came out the best from the shoot. Just a bit of photoshop, not too much, just to take away some wrinkles and frown lines, but other than that her skin is really that pale. Oh, and she showed up wearing a black shirt as she was on her way to a party.
