The floriculturist of our household reminded me that I nearly killed this orchid at one point in its life, by moving it suddenly from shade to sun. I seem to have forgotten. Perhaps I was thinking of trying a Darwinian experiment.
Lighting: on-camera flash used (with mirror) to trigger slave strobe from right. Same background as in the other shot.
Went to my first APG meeting and had a great time. Was quite intimidated but got through it. Was happy with the results since it is my very first studio shoot of any kind :)

Strobist: Canon 420ex to camera left at full power (I can't set it to anything else) and Vivitar 285 at 1/2 power to camera right. Both snooted, both pointed towards my face.

This installation toys with concepts of light and space. Large glass domes are lit sporadically with a gentle strobe. This is erected in the same corridor as the pencil marks on the wall, which chart an uncompromising journey. The corridor connotes, for me, a personal space. An anonymous, yet shared space on which I feel urged to make an indelible mark. The light installation is more temporary, the light in the darkness existing as a metaphor for process, an illumination of clarity. the piece challenged me to consider form and shape, mirroring and symmetry. The symmetrical effect of the placing of the glass balls, the dark and the strobe, give an impression of parrellellism and infinity.
