Strobistinfo: strobes from left and right to get shadows in the leafs and one to fill some of the shadows in the face. Can't really remember power settings on the strobes
photography course thurrock 1994....dark room strobe light plenty of thrashing about, done loads of these....this wasn't the best one!
Proud biker called Brian posing on his impressive Yamaha XJR 1300, at this photo session. Taken using off camera SB900 strobes, left and right plus low level fitted with Lee purple gel. Smoke machine was a small fire of autumn leaves in a chimmerer.

Neighbours probably wondered what I was up to with repeat flashes firing off in the evening light and an axe being wielded around !! SB900 on camera in repeat flash master mode 1/64 power , 16 flashes at 3 Hz. ISO 400 f 7.1 shutter 4 seconds all in manual, single exposure. Second SB900 on light stand in remote mode repeating the flashes 2 metres away right.
Broncolor strobe with medium soft box 45 degrees on the left, picolight about 30 degrees on the right.
Nice flowers and room decoration, playing with the strobe for learning.

I got a new Alien Bees Ringflash (ABR800) to shoot the class photos at my kiddo's school. This is my attempt at trying to figure out how to use it (most of an afternoon). I'm still waiting for delivery of my Pocket Wizards so that I can have a 550EX behind the subject to edgelight the hair. I have the ABR800 with the 30" Moon Unit on a stand slightly above the height of the subject, pointed down. I'm shooting with the Canon 5D Mk II and a Contax 85/1.4 at f/11. I am at the minimum focusing distance. The strobe is set between 1/4th and 1/8th power. 1/125th sec, ISO 100. These notes are mostly for me so I remember what the hell I did.
Thanks to Erica Berger who gave me the chance to 2nd shoot for her at this incredibly beautiful wedding at the Brazilian Room here in the East Bay. She was even cool enough to let me try off camera lighting for the first time at a wedding. Here I completely eliminated all ambient light w/ the highest sync speed (1/250).
