Strobist Info:

1 x SB 600 at 1/8 power behind subject as hair light, gelled

Triggered wirelessly by Hahnel Combi Radio Poppers

1 x SB 600 at front of subject at 1/16 power

Nikon D700 with Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8

Another lucky strobe catch as this Typhoon taxies out.

Probably the best of the lot this one! Working from previous shoots we changed somethings. The balloon was popped from a different angle and we added glitter to the mix to create the starry sparkle effect. I love the nebula/spacey effect we got in this shot. Still a work in progress so comments / criticisms welcome!!!

Now, when I was a little boy

At the age of five

I had somethin' in my pocket

Keeps a lot of folks alive

Now I'm a man

Turnin' twenty one

You know, baby

We can have a lot of fun

I'm a man

I spell M-A-N

Woah, I'm a man

All you pretty women

Standin' in line

I can make a love to you, baby

In an hours time

I'm a man

I spell M-A-N

Woah, I'm a man

Goin' back down

To Kansas town

To bring back the second cousin

Little Johnny the Conqueroo

I'm a man

I spell M-A-N

Woah, I'm a man

The line I shoot

Will never miss

The way I make love to 'em

They can't resist

I'm a man

I spell M-A-N

Woah, I'm a man

Woah, I'm a man

Light Painting with a new color changing light

yn46 in softbox camera right trigger with PW

By Patrick Raimondi-Taylor, Year 13 (A2 Photography)

Created using a powerful strobe light on a long exposure

I've seen a few shots that I like recently in which everything seems blown out from the front. This is my effort.

I have two strobes at 1/2 power through white umbrellas about 5 feet from the subject on either side. 50mm f/1.4

@ ISO 200 | f/5.6 | 125th shutter | trigged with Cactus v2 radio trigger... it's the worst. don't get one. spend more money on something else.

photography course thurrock 1994....dark room strobe light plenty of thrashing about, done loads of these....this wasn't the best one!

Hennie came along for a slightly different beach shoot, wearing a red garage overall rather than a bathing suit. Make up by Patricia van Eijk (Caralindavisagie.com)

Lighting details: Left of the camera, at Hennie's eyes height, is a 250Ws strobe with a soft box. Immediately right of the camera is a small reflector. All other light is daylight. Shot right after sundown.

I got a new Alien Bees Ringflash (ABR800) to shoot the class photos at my kiddo's school. This is my attempt at trying to figure out how to use it (most of an afternoon). I'm still waiting for delivery of my Pocket Wizards so that I can have a 550EX behind the subject to edgelight the hair. I have the ABR800 with the 30" Moon Unit on a stand slightly above the height of the subject, pointed down. I'm shooting with the Canon 5D Mk II and a Contax 85/1.4 at f/11. I am at the minimum focusing distance. The strobe is set between 1/4th and 1/8th power. 1/125th sec, ISO 100. These notes are mostly for me so I remember what the hell I did.
