2 x Elinchrom D-Lite 2 flash heads (200w). Both fitted with a soft box.
Camera left was set up to achieve correct exposure at F11, 1/125s and ISO100/
Camera right was set to F8.
Trigger was a Prolinca IR device on the hotshoe.
I was looking at photos and saw this from a flash tutorial i really loved there out come and since i don't have barn door s i use what i had. this by the way is my roommate you will see many photos of this guy and his girl friend.
i'm still learning and if any one and shoot some inspiration at me that would be great enjoy the photo

These ants speed run up and down tree trunks. Notice they have enlarged front femurs.

"This ant is Opisthopsis rufithorax Emery, a close relative of the sugar ants (Camponotus). You will note the large eyes on the corners of the head: these ants have excellent vision and will evade an oncoming human by darting around the far side of a tree trunk. You would also have noticed the strange, jerky way these ants progress - they are called 'strobe ants' in some quarters because of this."

Strobe lights seem to make what appear to be multiple frames as more solid objects. If that makes any sense. I'm not thinking too well right now.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to work on Strobist, Portrait, and On-Location skills.
Shot in our living room (economical portable studio) with my speedlights and a black sheet backdrop.
I have recently been working hard on skin retouching using the methods illustrated in Jason Odell's book The Photographer's Guide to Capture NX2.
I have a long way to go with the camera and learning more subtle skin techniques - BUT they are still better than any point-n-shoot-ugly-flash-redeye-harshly-lit effort that I may have put forth before finding Strobist and the magic of CLS/AWL!

SB-800 (just to right) shot through a small softbox.
SB-600 (camera left about 60 degrees) shot into a 43" umbrella for fill.
Sb-600 (camera left and about 45 degrees behind) shot into homemade grid snoot for hair light. Should've use ND gels to knock it down a little.
Fired via Nikon D300 popup commander (set to "--")
Lots of experimentation going on - both while shooting and in PP using Capture NX2.

2 strobe lights bounced from Umbrella one front, one from right side half power, triggered by camera CLS
3X 600 watt strobes. Quality build, 1.5 second recycle time & easy to use. The 22" beauty dish is awesome.
My wife asked if I could get a shot of her reading films, similar to one she saw in her schools alumni magazine. I figured I'd give it a shot on myself first to see if I could do it in that tiny cell we call an office. My camera was practically in the bookshelf, but I think it worked out O.K. Besides, now I have my own version of the "editing images at night" cliche shot.
