I photographed for an 18th but the strobe light kept on messing with my shots with low shutter speeds. however I'm happy with how this turned out.
Another shot during my first strobe test. Vivitar set off with Pocket Wizard, 45 angle camera right. I think a shot like this would work out well to go with an interview.
Another from the guys before they disbursed in all different directions to explore higher learning. I hope these images age like a fine wine.
Strobist: AB1600's left and right rear of group through gridded 36" strips. AB800 through 22" beauty dish, boomed above camera. All fired with PW+II's.
we've made some changes to the pro side. we've got a new name, and a new angle. we started by primarily shooting family portraits, maternity and babies and we've moved from that toward more of a commercial/fashion direction. it's always been something we did and enjoyed and we had to make a decision to concentrate on one direction more than just dabbling with both types, so we can give it our full attention and it was what we both enjoyed more anyway.
being that we're both Miami homegrown, we're making our connections with the local music and creative artists and local shops/businesses. i can totally appreciate a person's drive for putting their inspiration and hard work out there - in whatever fashion it may be, hobby/semi-pro/pro/charity. so, we're putting ourselves out there to be available to these folks that are also climbing their own ladder.

Testing my new YN-468 in multi- or strobe mode. Works quite well ....!

- not very powerful
- no highspeed mode
- not compatible to wireless e-TTL
- afaik: not compatible with the Canon 430 EX II as stroboscope slave (yet to test)
PS: Yes, obv. this multi-flash stroboscope mode via e-TTL does not work , quite understandable I think, because there's no wireless e-TTL communication. But what **does** work is the YN-468 stroboscope mode in connection with other Yongnuos as slaves in mode S1 (simple slave flashes).
Tonight we went to check out some water nearby. But the light was super boring so we tried out a bit of strobing. I got my trousers wet and too bad that there were no straw rolls but the results were pretty nice for a strobist beginner :)

Wl x1600 cam left into gridded beauty dish
WLx1600 cam left into med soft box low for fill
Wl x 800 cam right into 20DEG grid for rim
So I heard great things about the beauty dish and got one. Looks like the beauty dish creates unusual shadow or the feathering of the shadow isn't as smooth. Most of the time I use the standard shoot thru umbrella. I usually have 2-3 lights (keylight, fill and sometime backlighting) for portrait, so that usually kills any deep shadow. I will try more use of just keylight and lower the power on the fill.
Also the 22" beauty dish produced less hotspot and lower power as you can see. The White balance does look different and it was on auto. SOOC and downloadable.
Menik 400w monolight. 45/60 power about 6-7' away in front trigger by YY rf-603. modifiers as stated in the photo.

conceptual shot of these Ed Hardy Shoes. I shot in front of my house on the curb. I over powered the sun with the strobe. Jeans are haing on a C stand...knock out the back ground and drop this shot of a view of downtown Edmonton, CANADA. The back ground was a pick shot I did at 11:30pm over this summer while shooting for Westin Hotels. I knew it would come in handy!
from kidz express yesterday -- the kids carved jack-o-lanterns and then we fired strobes through the tops to see what they'd look like. if i'd thought of it beforehand i would have prepared a snoot, but oh well, maybe next year.
lit with 3 flashes, mainlight 8'o clock, two kicker lights - one at 10'o clock and one at 2'o clock. all yongnuo 560iii triggered by yongnuo rf 603 cii.

Mainly for information if you want to try this at home kids.
Similar to this shot but with two main differences. The black skirt is disappearing into the background - much better to stick with light colours. Secondly the flashes are firing twice as fast at 6Hz rather than 3Hz of the other image. You need to tune the flash rate to the speed of the subject and this was just a bit too fast.
Setup shot is in the notes for the previous image in my stream but in brief, two Vivitar 283 heads set to about 1/4 power behind the dancer for rim light. 580EX II camera left and 540 EZ camera right both zoomed to 50mm and set in "Multi" mode at 1/16 power, 6 pops, 6Hz. Final exposure 1s at ƒ8

Strobist: Three strobes in frame. Two Vivitar 285HVs (1/16 power) left and right side, one Pentax AF360 (1/32 power) middle. Vivs triggered by CyberSyncs, Pentax on Slave2 mode. Also a Pentax 240 (full power - optical slave) bounced off of white foamcore to light front of strobes and stands.
feb 2014,was at the backdoor,noticed this flying past-it was totally silent,no usual red and green navigation lights .it then stopped in its tracks and hovered while strobing , very bright. i went into the house to get camcorder and luckily it was still there when i came back out. not the best footage-i got a little trigger happy with the zoom.
