Sometimes the shots where the model is prepping are awesome. In this case she changed shoes and I grabbed a shot at random and loved it.
Lighting is from a 22" beauty dish overhead and a large striplight with a grid camera left. Triggered via Cyber Commander. Was shot on white originally and the background was added in post.

Another shot I took for my photographers rights exam, this time I was to take a fashion shot where the emphasis was on the clothes, their texture and color, but it also needed to be a good shot of the model.
The model is Jana and Henný did the makeup. Lighting is 5 lights, one big softbox on my right, a big octobox on my left, two striplight softboxes behind her on both sides and a honeycomb on the backround.
This is Gassi, or "Gaz-Man" as The Thing from the Fantastic Four comics.
Recently bought a smoke machine real cheap in "Toyz ´r us" and have gone maybe a little overboard with it for this series in photos I haven´t posted yet but I think it adds something to the shot. I was a bit perplexed to why the smoke came out blue because I didn´t use any blue gel filters and I was going to desaturate it but when I did I saw it was much cooler and more to the spirit of the Fantastic Four costumes to just let it be blue.
As with the rest of this series, Henný and Eva Hrönn did the makeup and I used 4 lights for this one. A big softbox on my right, a big octobox on my left and two striplight softboxes on both sides behind him for rim/backlighting.

By this photo I have used three studiolamps, two left left and right in the back. They have softboxes for a nice light. Left and the front I have striplight for the catchlight in her eyes.
I have used a light blue backdrop, to repeat the blue of her eyes.
Gear I used:

We were testing the light for an upcoming shoot and also taking some shots of Steph. I thought her hair needed a little more body (she complained that it wasn't cooperating). This was her reaction to my efforts.

Helped my Mum with her new phone again today - adding loads of contact numbers for her, and trying to remind her how it all works. My sister came over shortly before lunch to collect the kids, then left us to it for a while - and then came back at 3pm to take me to the station. Mum came along too, for the ride.
Caught the train back to London, then the tube from Paddington to Charing Cross. I liked the diagonal strip lighting overhead as I headed up the escalator.
Got the train home from Charing Cross, and got back to Tim just after 6:30. He's feeling rather coldy so we decided an Indian takeaway was in order ;) Watched an episode of Fargo, and then the film Looper (that is, Tim watched it while I faffed with my photos and got more and more confused about the plot...!)
I haven't had a lot of inspiration regarding composites lately. There are so many amazing images online to draw from, but the more images I see the harder it can be to find my own vision. This popped in my head last night and I just had to execute!

that's one of the photos i was about to delete... the shutter speed was way to fast for the fluorescent lamps and i got a gradient color cast over half of the image.
but I really like the image and tried to remove the gradiant. it worked pretty good (I think). I chose a very cold white balance just to bend the colors a little bit more into the blue.

My grandfather's shotgun. So old it has no serial number. I believe it was made between 1867 and 1899. US firearms law calls an antique like this a "curio". And it is legal because serial numbers were not required when it was made. Shot with Nikon D850 using 3 studio strobes (2 octoboxes 90 degrees apart camera left and right as key lights, one striplight over the gun pointing down) Brought out details with Topaz. The black background was added in Photoshop.

I won a ribbon on www.dpchallenge.com the other day with this shot, the challenge name was "Fashion II".
Model is Dea Katrin Tosic, makeup by Eva Hrönn and hair by Kata. I shot this VERY last minute, around midnight on the 27-28th, I didn´t really have time to put together a photoshoot so all credit for doing so goes to Dea, Eva and Kata. Eva was working the smoke machine,we were lucky in this particular shot that the smoke pretty much mimicked the pose.
I was shooting that same night for our pinup series and asked if Dea could come to the studio very late so we could shoot this after doing the pinup shots, I couldn´t use them as they would have required expert editing, not allowed according to the DPC editing rules. The concept is Dea´s and the clothes are made by Elin Ósk Hreindal. The bird is not a real one, not sure what it was made of but this photoshoot cost it it´s life as it fell to the floor during the shoot.
Lighting is 2 striplight softboxes from behind and a big softbox from the front + silver reflector between us pointed upwards.
I made this shot purposefully complex so I could get lots of things in the frame.

Hi
as I wanted to do some experiments with my striplight (with and without grid) for some time now, I thought, why not do it this week. And so it came, that for this weeks picture, Marie had to do some underwear modeling. As this is the first time I did a picture like this, it was not easy for me (and also for her). We had to try some different poses, and also light setups until it finally turned out as I wanted it to.
If you want to know the full story behind this picture and see the lighting diagram of the setup, head over to:
Or you can just follow me on facebook:

Got my strip lights (2pcs 30x160cm / 12x63") with grids this week. I am trying to learn how to work with them getting to building a Joel Grimes style set-up. Not quite there yet. The strip lights are angled at subject from the back/side. From the front I use a portalite 60x60cm softbox from 45 degrees above directly in front on a boom.
No direct light on the white background, subject 90cm/3" in front of background.

Inspired by the cover for the Facebook Water rower group, and a challenge to produce some pictures at home with the theme water, made some pictures of the swirling water within the tank of my water rower.
First trial, to it yourself, alone. The camera is placed on an improvised tripod, remote release with Pluto Trigger set to a timer with a picture every 3 sec. As a light a moonlight, Elinchrom ELC500 with either a deep Octa 70 cm or a Striplight 50 x 130 cm.
To make a long story short, approx. 400 pictures later, and for the last 50 pictures with the support of my partner, there are now approx. 15 pictures left, 5 of them will make it to Flickr.
Next round, I will try after corona together with an experienced rower in order to have more control over the light and the strength of each stroke, and therefore related water swirl.
