This is an outtake from our last photoshot. My wife was joking around and I shot some pictures. Don't take it to serious.
PS: Look at the photorealistic background I created in post. ;-)

I finally got around working with my Saberstrips using them as mains and not just as rimlights. Both are pushed in really close, right outside the frame, left and right with equal values. I am still impressed what a beautiful face and a little bit of strobe makes for a difference. Glad I don't have to photograph my ugly mug all the time any longer - which makes setup and shooting so much easier too.

Saturday we met at the lightGIANTS studio to test our new strip lights!
This is one image out of the batch.
We all had no dinner so we had to eat at the studio, why not shooting it! ;-)
You can find a before and after comparison at my site.
Or have a look at the large version on black!
Thanks to all of you, for making this shot #41.

My wife helped me for a new profile picture and shot me with my camera. ;-) Since last year cycling became a big hobby of me and I want a picture of me in my daily outfit.
Strobist info: 3x Yongnuo YN560III --> one speedlight @ 1/32 power in a 105cm reflective parabolic umbrella camera left from above and one silver reflector from bottom. Two selfmade striplights each with one YN560III @ 1/2 power left and right behind the subject. Triggered with the YN560TX.
I have planned this shooting for a while now. I am a big fan of the newer series of the tomb raider game. The new look is really good. So I decided to make a „poster style picture“ with my wife. It was very much fun, styling her. The best part was playing with the fake blood. Strobist Info: I used two strip lights left and right behind her, with Jinbei flashes. One octabox with a Yongnuo flash inside infront of her. All triggered via YN-622C.
About as normal as it gets down in the cellar. I was trying to take this very quickly while the camera was resting on a shelf but the tripod base plate tips the lens forward so the hood rests on the surface which is fine except when autofocus frantically tries to find a bit of contrast in low light the lens actually rotates so the whole camera is rocking side to side and doing some kind of insane crab dance to the edge of the shelf and impending destruction down to the stone floor 5 feet below.
Lampist: One flourescent strip on full power above and one clip light hand held camera right extractor 40w plugged directly.

The reason why I love studio strobes is because how fast they recycle. You can shoot bam bam bam and I you give a rythme.
I use a radio shutter. Even when I shoot people so I don't hide behind the camera and can interact this the talent.

Day 229 of the 365 Journey
What is MY impact?
The interesting thing is I’ll never know. I’ll never know about all of the people that I may or may not have influenced, encouraged, or possibly discouraged. I’ll never be able to comprehend how many ways I may have altered someone’s perspective. I’ll never know how the information that I may have offered someone at some point may be utilized. Every so often I hear a conversation that took place between a third and fourth party about an image I created. It makes me stop and smile. On occasion; someone I haven’t seen in while will make a mention about day “whatchamacallit” and how it was hilarious or creative. All I can do is accept the generous compliment and hope that I have the strength to be just as creative the following day.
We can never know just how far the ripples of our actions will travel. We can only hope that the splash which we made was a positive one.
What is YOUR impact?

This is Georg Alexander or "Goggi" as Wolverine from the X-Men comics. Wolverine has always been one of my favorites so there was never any doubt about him being in the series and I thought Goggi was perfect for the role, I think he looks a lot like Hugh Jackman.
He certainly got into character for this photoshoot, grew his hair and beard long for weeks before and definately had the right attitude in the photoshoot. As with the other superhero shot´s Henný and Eva Hrönn did the makeup/bodypaint on this one. A lot of people propbably don´t recognize the costume since Wolverine wears all black in the three X-Men movies but this is the original costume (minus the mask of course) and this is how I remember Wolverine from the comics.
I took this shot almost 3 months ago so I am not 100% on the lighting, I have just been so busy with work I haven´t gotten around to process these photos but I have shot the whole series now, just have to upload the final 12 photos. As far as I can remember, lighting was 5 lights, one honeycomb on the backround, two honeycombs from each side behind him for hair/rimlight and then two striplight softboxes on both of his sides but also slightly from the front.

For this shot, a striplight was used from the right directly in front of the subject and two black shaders were used next to the subject. The cutout photo was created with a system flash against the background.

Inspired by the cover for the Facebook Water rower group, and a challenge to produce some pictures at home with the theme water, made some pictures of the swirling water within the tank of my water rower.
First trial, to it yourself, alone. The camera is placed on an improvised tripod, remote release with Pluto Trigger set to a timer with a picture every 3 sec. As a light a moonlight, Elinchrom ELC500 with either a deep Octa 70 cm or a Striplight 50 x 130 cm.
To make a long story short, approx. 400 pictures later, and for the last 50 pictures with the support of my partner, there are now approx. 15 pictures left, 5 of them will make it to Flickr.
Next round, I will try after corona together with an experienced rower in order to have more control over the light and the strength of each stroke, and therefore related water swirl.
Pull hard, zieh durch.

During this drive, in the hopes that maybe, I'd get something decent, this was what I ended up scoring. Having just watched it pull in, it... well... it necessitated a sprint, let's say. And the funny thing is, the driver was taking a five minute break after all of that! Ah... at least I didn't wait in actual naught degrees for nothing. Not only does this photo actually show this bus now in service, it also shows the unique LED arrangement I witnessed, but was unable to effectively photograph, a few weeks earlier. As far as I've witnessed, the LED striplights are fully red when the doors are closed, turning white when the doors are open. Interesting, eh? I hope to, maybe one night, get this in the dark again, but that depends whether these lights will still be working by then...
Captured in service on what has been described as the coldest day of the year - this late? Oh dear... - East Yorkshire's 'EastRider'-branded 923, a 2020 ADL Enviro 400MMC, is seen here pulling out from its usual timing(?) stop at Market Weighton on the X46 to York via Pocklington, passing below some of the town's Christmas lights that are likely due to be taken down by next week. I hope to, hopefully one day, return to Market Weighton when the current climate has passed.
Hey guys :)
Last week I tried out my new 5DIII in the studio for the first time and I'm fairly satisfied with the results in terms of sharpness. Unfortunately, I forgot to switch of the auto-iso mode :/
Betty an I had a little photoshoot. It was the first time for her (except the supersoaker-fun-shoot we had several weeks ago) and I think she did very well.
We took a couple of photos in my studio and then we went outside with my portable flash when the sun came down in the evening.
More pics from this photoshoot coming soon.
Lighting: beautydish from above, 2 striplights from behind
I tried a setting, which I have seen from Alexander Heinrichs. In the background I used a golden rescue blanket. Cam right was a beauty dish with a 580EXII in manual mode. Cam left was a Jinbei DM2-400 with a striplight. Two 430EX with a yellow gel for the back-lit. All triggered by YN-622C.
