Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota is supposed to be THE place to see wildlife. We were a bit skeptical after we drove over half the length of the Wildlife Loop Road and only saw a couple of pronghorns. We encountered the wild burros that roam freely begging for food. And then, finally, we found the buffalo herd.
I believe this is a female adult and two juvenile buffalo.

The Michigan State Capitol, shot from a couple hundred yards to the west. The flags are at half-staff because earlier in the week I shot this (mid-May 2009), a Michigan soldier had just been killed in Iraq.
