This park is in New York state and is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the East. There are a series of 3 falls, Upper, Middle and the Lower falls. This one is the Upper falls and is spanned by a bridge used by trains. There is a lovely trail that climbs fairly gently up to the top. This is the Genesee River.

the following paragraph is copy/pasted from an article from the Burke Museum entitled NW Origins:

The geologic evolution of Washington State is one of the most fascinating geologic stories ever told. It is a tale of the breakup of ancient giant continents, the birth and death of great ocean basins, the collision of exotic islands, the uplift and wearing away of generations of mountain ranges, enormous floods of molten lava and great continental glaciers of the Ice Ages. Washington’s geologic history stretches back in time more than a billion years, and it continues to unfold around us every day.

Couldn't have said it better myself, but when you stand in places like this, (High Rock Peak) you can't help but wonder and marvel at the forces that create such splendor. This is the view facing West, the view East is much the same. IMMEDIATELY to the north towers Mount Rainier, to the south the remnants of Saint Helens and the second tallest peak in the state, Adams. In the faraway land of Oregon the pyramid face of Hood can be seen, it's like stepping back in time looking around and watching the Earth being made.

Union Pacific's Sharp, Utah - Valmy, Nevada coal train is making good time, rolling along State Street on the Provo Subdivision between American Fork and Lehi, Utah the afternoon of Nov. 3, 1985. The open fields that bordered the track are all gone now. In fact, a Costco big box store occupies this plot of land today. Time marches on, like it or not!

The Asian or Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus) is the only living species of the genus Elephas and is distributed in Southeast Asia from India in the west to Borneo in the east.

Three subspecies are recognized—Elephas maximus maximus from Sri Lanka, the Indian elephant or E. m. indicus from mainland Asia, and E. m. sumatranus from the island of Sumatra. Asian elephants are the largest living land animals in Asia.

Since 1986, E. maximus has been listed as endangered by IUCN as the population has declined by at least 50% over the last three generations, estimated to be 60–75 years. Asian elephants are primarily threatened by degradation, fragmentation and loss of habitat, and poaching. In 2003, the wild population was estimated at between 41,410 and 52,345 individuals.

Female captive elephants have lived beyond 60 years when kept in semi-natural surroundings, such as forest camps. In zoos, elephants die at a much younger age and are declining due to a low birth and high death rate.

The genus Elephas originated in Sub-Saharan Africa during the Pliocene, and ranged throughout Africa into southern Asia. The earliest indications of captive use of Asian elephants are engravings on seals of the Indus Valley civilization dated to the third millennium BC. – Wikipedia

The Nebraska State Capitol is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Nebraska and is located in downtown Lincoln. Designed by New York architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in 1920, it was constructed of Indiana limestone from 1922 to 1932. The capitol houses the primary executive and judicial offices of Nebraska and is home to the Nebraska Legislature—the only unicameral state legislature in the United States.

The Nebraska State Capitol's 400-foot (120 m) tower can be seen up to twenty miles (32 km) away. It was the first state capitol to incorporate a functional tower into its design. Goodhue stated that "Nebraska is a level country and its capitol should have some altitude or beacon effect."[3] In 1976, the National Park Service designated the capitol a National Historic Landmark, and in 1997, the Park Service extended the designation to include the capitol grounds, which Ernst H. Herminghaus designed in 1932.

Known as the “Gateway to the North Shore,” Gooseberry Falls State Park near Two Harbors is well worth a stop even if your ultimate destination is farther north. Situated on the banks of Lake Superior, the park is home to five waterfalls, including three awe-inspiring—and loud!—falls where the water of the Gooseberry River roars through a rocky gorge on its way to Lake Superior.

This Waterfall Image, as well as a vast collection of other falls, is available to order by contacting me through www.tom-clark.net/waterfalls

If you are ever able to see an exhibit of Chiaharu Shiota's work, I strongly recommend it. She's super creative and interesting.

As expensive as Zurich was, there were some amazing modern art exhibits in the city and this was definitely one of them!

Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area is a state park in Pacific City, Oregon, United States. Cape Kiwanda is on the Three Capes Scenic Route, which includes Cape Meares and Cape Lookout. Hiking to the top of Cape Kiwanda allows views of Nestucca Bay to the south and Cape Lookout to the north.

A sea stack, named Chief Kiawanda Rock (note different spelling than Cape Kiwanda) is located 1⁄2 mile southwest of the cape. It is one of three features along the Oregon Coast that are called "Haystack Rock," though the one in Cannon Beach is more widely known.

The State Theatre originally opened as the Lyric Theater in the early 1900s. After suffering several fires it would later be rebuilt at the State Theatre. It is now home to the Traverse City Film Festival (founded by Michael Moore). Sadly it has been closed since the COVID outbreak last year.

Markers in the Canyon tell boaters when they cross the Wyoming-Montana State Line on Bighorn Lake. Though still in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area on either side, fishing and boat regulations are different for each state. One needs the appropriate fishing license depending on which side of the line they fish

We found real beauty of Fall in the Ferdinand State Forest. It was mid-morning and very quiet. We found a bench near the lake and enjoyed the serenity and seeing two eagles soar over the lake and land in a tree on the opposite side. I did not realize the beauty of this shot until I got home, definitely the shot of the trip.
