PRINT FOR SALE---WHAT A GREAT PHOTO!
INTERESTING! This is a fantastic photo to own. It says so much about our changing economic times.
This is a Fine Art photo of "The State Motel-Rooms 75 cents" sign which is located in Seattle, Washington. The sign still exists today, however, one can assume that the rooms have gone up in price since the sign was hung in the 1930s. This is a wonderful photo of a by gone era, this sign has so much personality. What fun it would be to hang this photo outside your own home in suburbia. It could be printed the actual size of a real sign on canvas and weather proofed or on metal which holds up great for all seasons. Come on have some serious laughs with your neighbors when they read "ROOMS 75 cents". Imagine the letters that you will receive from the Home Owners Association.
Found the remains of this old vehicle while hiking through the old growth forest within Prairie creek Redwoods state park.

Front view of the original Wells Hall. It was constructed in 1877 and burned down on February 11, 1905.
Written on the back is "Wells Hall M.A.C. burned down Feb 1905." All three Wells Halls were named for Hezekiah G. Wells, president of the State Board of Agriculture (now known at the Board of Trustees). For more information see "Gone But Not Forgotten, Campus Buildings That No Longer Exist".

Owned by Union Pacific Railroad investors from 1902 to 1977, the park acreage served as a cattle ranch and private retreat of the Harriman and Guggenheim families. Today, Harriman State Park provides the perfect setting to enjoy the park's unique history in a beautiful natural setting. Harriman State Park, the crown jewel of the Idaho State Park system, is situated in the heart of a 16,000 acre wildlife reserve. This sanctuary protects a diversity of birds and mammals similar to that of nearby Yellowstone National Park. The property, also known as the Railroad Ranch, was once the private retreat of the Harriman family, of Union Pacific fame, and the Guggenheims, then prominent in the copper industry.

This theatre opened in 1918 as the Florence Theatre. It then was bought by Fox, and later became a Pussycat Theatre, when "Old Town" Pasadena was the city's main skid row.
But Pasadena changed, and the State was one of the many casualties, closing for good back in 2000, when I shot this photo.
When the city forced the theatre to retrofit the building for earthquakes, it closed. The building's original facade was later recreated, and now it is a Carvel Ice Cream shop and a Quizno's, among other small retail establishments that now rent space there.

the washington state capitol building was the last state capitol building to be built with a rotunda and it is the tallest masonry dome in the u.s. it reminded me of madison's dome in wisconsin. this one has prettier trees, though.

Built in the mid-eighteenth century by D. Sebastian de Eslava, Viceroy of New Granada (1685-1759), the Palacio Guendulain is one of the most prominent buildings in Pamplona, located in the old town.
After a long history as a family residence in 1845 Isabel II stayed in this palace with his entourage making royal residence for a few days- Guendulain Palace opens into a splendid hotel of 25 rooms and suites overlooking the Council Square and the landscaped courtyard inside the palace. We also have a parking lot located just 20 meters away.
Inside, guests will find an outstanding coach of the first quarter of the eighteenth century and Sedan very beautifully crafted.
Also in the garden courtyard is exposed original collection of antique carriages and one of the fountains designed by the painter Luis Paret, with
reason for the water brought to Pamplona.
Your main floor features impressive rooms which can host various meetings and events. On this floor is located the gastronomic restaurant overlooking the Plaza Council, also having a private dining room of ample capacity.
Guendulain Palace offers its guests a unique balance between the comfort of a modern luxury hotel and the history and charm of a historic building of the XVIII century.

The State Historical Society of Iowa puts Portland's stodgy Oregon Historical Society, with its brutalist architecture, baffling floor plan and limited public exhibits, to shame.
Iowa's impressive building has lovely galleries and public spaces. We enjoyed the current exhibit about Iowa during the Civil War.
Alas, the State Historical Society of Iowa is one of the very few things downtown Des Moines has going for it.

While out looking for sandhill cranes near Kearney, NE, starc283 and I came across this cute little meadowlark sitting on a fence. It's probably going to be the best shot of the trip.
