The State Bank of Northfield was build in 1911 in the Egyptian style by architect Harry W. Jones. It is located near a more famous bank, The First National Bank of Northfield which was nearly robbed by the outlaw Jesse James in 1876. Armed townspeople prevented the robbery, but not before two people were killed. This famous event in Minnesota history has been portrayed in a number of stories and films.
Northfield is a town in Southern Minnesota, located along the Cannon River. The town was founded in 1855 and has been a predominantly agricultural area. It is home to Carleton and St. Olaf colleges, as well as a Malt-O-Meal factory, which has built the total population to around 17,000.
