Commemorative plaque at Turf Pit Lane, home to Moorside Cricket Club, said to be the highest cricket ground in Lancashire. Captured during a nine-wicket Mavericks win over Denton Saints in a quarter-final of the Greater Manchester League's Marston's-sponsored 20 Premier pink ball competition.
South African professional Ernie Kemm, formerly of Lancashire League Bacup, bossed proceedings as second tier Mavericks cruised to victory over top-flight leaders Saints. Orthodox left-arm spinner Kemm took 3-17 as Denton Saints (aka Denton St Lawrence), opting to bat, were restricted to 138-7. Kemm then struck 63 not out in adding 121 with Imran Khan (55 not out) in an entertaining, unbroken second wicket stand. Catching was key. Moorside pouched some absolute stunners while careless Denton spilled five and, through dire communication between three fielders, messed up another opportunity.
Richard Harrington (2-18) gave Moorside an early boost by removing Saints' South African professional Niel Hornbuckle for a duck with the innings' second delivery. Mark Dilnutt (42) and Kyle O'Reilly (25) put on 45 for the third wicket, but the visitors never looked like getting sufficient runs on the board. Australian Nick Bailey, Saints' other overseas player, chipped in with 25 towards the end. Moorside lost Phil Taylor for 15 before Kemm and Khan took over. Moorside go through to Finals Day, along with the other quarter-final winners - Clifton Kingfishers, Denton West Wildcats and Prestwich Heat.

"No-Body Zone: Designing an Exploded Audiobook"

No-Body Zone expanded out of Richard Foreman’s 1997 novel-in-parts “No-Body.”
From their statement:
“Can a media city-structure be built out of this book? We divided an audiobook recording among seven narrators, mostly previous Foreman actors. Using the recording process as a concrete method, and the narrators' bodies, histories, and recollections as a starting point, we gathered a spectrum of films, scripts, photos, recollections, city diagrams and material ephemera. Thus we tried to plan our city – and instead lost ourselves in spinning a paranoid web of incidentally connected work around the hermetic mythos of Foreman's theater -- a kind intertextual multi-lived hodge-podge/bricolage.
Like all hermetic projects, our No-Body archive shimmers with blind alleys, broken signs, and exploding hearts. In the liminal space between city and reverberation machine -- audiobook performance, hypertext plays, hard drive distribution, theatrical performance -- our audiobook, our website, and our thumbdrive vibrate together as No-Body. Our accreting remains in-process.
The Studio-X evening will produce another media artifact to be archived and broadcast: we will film the discussion and a performance of the new play 'Eastern/Western Meat Lessons' by Stephen Mosblech, a fragment-blending of Foreman's text and others, designed for the Studio-X space.”

Artist's statement. It reads:
Throughout my life, I have always been interested in photography. Until recently, I had been mostly an "armchair photographer" of sorts, reading about cameras and photographic techniques, but never investing in any equipment to actively pursue the art. When the chance came to take a class in black and white photography in my studies at Carnegie Mellon University, I enrolled immediately. Taking the course gave me a reason to bite the bullet and dive straight into the world of photography. One requirement of the class was a portfolio of twenty 8x10 prints, which are presented here.
The majority of the prints in this portfolio are images of the abandoned Donora Southern Railroad, a victim of the collapse of the steel industry in southwestern Pennsylvania. The first five photographs present a study of a large pile of decaying railroad ties. The sequence examines order and disorder, as well as the interaction between nature and its reclamation of these objects that were once part of nature themselves.
The five prints that follow explore two abandoned tunnels on the railroad. They investigate the interaction between light and the aged concrete surfaces of the structure. Related to the tunnel images is the next sequence of five prints documenting debris strewn about inside the tunnels. Again, the focus here is the interaction of light and shadow with the subject and its surroundings.
The other five images in this portfolio are of different subject matter. Two prints are abstractions of a sidewalk. Prominent lines divide the images into geometric shapes. Also, the textures and tones in the photographs provide additional means of differentiating the shapes. The final three photographs are self-portraiture. They show me machining, one of my favorite pastimes, on an old Pratt and Whitney lathe. The images are printed full frame to give an antique appearance, as the process of machining by hand has become somewhat of a lost art since the advent of computer controlled milling.
Overall, there is a thought that binds all of the photographs in this portfolio together: taking what is otherwise dirty, gritty, and mundane and finding something clean and powerful. Each image reflects this idea.
This portfolio is presented as a final requirement to complete Black and White Photography I, taught by instructor Jamie Gruzska.

Head of Delegation of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the OPCW at the 22nd Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The Conference is held at the World Forum, The Hague, the Netherlands, from 27 November to 1 December 2017.
It says more in an honest way than either Romney or Obama said in their over 2 billion dollar campaigns for the presidency.
Candidates for all offices in the election cycle of 2012 spent about 7 billion dollars total. I wonder if anyone genuinely feels better about his or her life after a favored candidate won. What, in fact, was won? Does anyone other than the few people whose lobbyists (over 40,000 lobbyists?) successfully prevent their immense incomes from being shared with workers know?
