I know, I know, I see mushrooms and I immediately think of fairy houses.
Actually, doesn't every one!!!
We've been having an Indian Summer and yesterday was one of those divine days that was picture perfect in every sense.
Having had the first crop of mushrooms on our lawn last week, I knew if I poked around in my fave forest I was bound to unearth some more.
The forest, despite recently being thinned out, still has a very dense tree canopy and its like being in a dark green tunnel with the occasional splashes of sunlight, just perfect for fairy houses to spring up.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this log, covered in all kinds of mushrooms and splashed with sun light (I've put the image in my comments).
I had a jolly good scamper round the log, camera clicking away until I suddenly remembered I am now shooting in raw and I didn't bring my spare memory cards.
This is where I have seen the benefits of shooting in raw because I have photographed in this particular spot many, many times and always been disappointed with the results.
Oh the joy of finding a tool on one's camera that really does the job!!
New builds everywhere and new hopes for many people. Shame there's no money to re-develop derelict and brownfield sites!

The rising Snow Moon * seems to be caught between two arms of a giant saguaro cactus. Seen on a sunset/moonrise hike in Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona. We hiked down from this overlook and then through the Sonoran Desert back to our cars in the dark, entirely by moonlight.
* I know the full moons have had nicknames for a long time, but this year they seem to be getting more attention than ever. Next year, may we expect to have "Snow Moon Day", special snow moon candies, and an extensive selection of Hallmark greeting cards so we can share the joy of "Snow Moon Day" with friends and loved ones?

I did ride VW1177 today, indeed it was the best run of the day, romping up Highgate Hill as though it didn’t exist.
Next trip I photographed it negotiating the narrow part of Hampstead Lane by Spaniards Inn.
It transferred Edgware-Cricklewood about five weeks ago.

CN used to run down every Wednesday typically around the noon hour which allowed me to be able to shoot them on my lunch hour at work.
Ozzie the Octopus loves people. When someone sits on his bench, he wraps his tentacles around them and gently squeezes. Unfortunately, Ozzie's concept of gently has resulted in numerous brown deposits on the bench. Keeps the maintenance technicians busy. That's a good thing, right?
