In my head I am here

waiting out the shortness of breath

waiting out the racing heart beat

waiting out the chasing voices

In my head I am here

waiting out the squeeze

Still waiting...

The Messeturm by architect Helmut Jahn is Frankfurt's second-highest tower building. Seen from the grounds of the former police HQ, it doesn't look very imposing in this view. This will be the last shot from my visit to the police HQ.

Operating on train tracks in the famous Maeklong Railway Market. In Thai, they call it the "umbrella pulldown market". As a train approaches, the awnings and merchandise are moved back from the tracks just far enough to allow the train to pass.

I first visited this market in 2011 when it wasn't on the tourism radar - today its a major spectacle of people wanting to see the train squeeze through the market.

Back again to the Netherlands.

We like to squeeze our oranges ourselves - but sometimes we use large and shiny machines like the one captured here at a local supermarket.

Stop squeezing me!

Stop manspreading on the subway

Stop making me feel like I have to be

more petite to fit

in a tiny world.

When, the world is vast

and big enough for all of us.

It is not people that are big

but instead ideas.

Does that threaten you?

Happy Sliders Sunday 😎

Just out of the water and trying to find someplace bask in the sun and catch a nap. Don't think it's going to work out here. Moss Landing, just north of Monterey California.

From my Sea Lions of Moss Landing collection.

It's somehow quite satisfying to squeeze this soft and squishy little character. Made with a pliable outer coating, he's filled with some sort of malleable substance that is soft, but firm--if that makes sense--and he returns to his original shape when released from grip.

I think he's intended to be a stress relieving object. I received him as a giveaway item once during my working career (there's a corporate name on his back). And the best thing about it: No matter how hard or how many times you squeeze him, the little guy just keeps on smiling. :-)

There is a stone enclosure by the side of the road at a place called Four Winds, near Merrivale on Dartmoor. At the front of it, which is now a car park, there was once a school for the children of local farm workers and quarrymen. The school closed back in the 1930s and all traces of it were removed in the 1960s. But this stone enclosure remains, together with the "squeeze-belly" stile. It allowed people to squeeze through while keeping larger animals at bay. I think the stone enclosure is very much older than the brick-built school (dating from 1914), whose children used it as a playground. But I've been unable to find any confirmation of its history.

Macro Mondays - Found in the Kitchen

One of my favourite little things is my tea bag squeezer. I don't want to chance burning my drum fingers.

Happy Macro Monday

There are lots of places for Milu to sit, including the large basket behind her but Milu loves sitting in the tissue box. I have had a really bad chest cold this week and there is nothing worse than using a fur covered tissue - lol

Happy Furry Friday everyone

I think that most birds try to distance themselves from a perceived threat, and when that's not possible, they try to hide behind branches, leaves, or even single blades of tall grass.

This male Scarlet Tanager missed the "safe" distance by squeezing through nearly bare branches, which provided no cover at all. Thank you Mr. Tanager.

Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK, August 2019

This is in Arches National Park in a place known as 'Park Avenue.' The park is an amazing place to visit with many natural wonders.

the tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)

The juvenile frogmouth is squeezed between its sibling and their mother. Their father is perching on another branch below them.

These buildings are by highway 401 in Mississauga, Ontario. I've always liked their shape and wanted to photograph them during my trips but never had the chance. We always pass by them and drive to Toronto. I apologize for the blur, this is the best I was able to get at 120km/hr :)

I am happy to say that the brown egg in yesterday's post was not harmed in the making of the image. I can not say the same for this white egg, but then I could hardly expect it.

This was more countertop fun. I brought in this vice, some vicegrips and a spring clamp in hopes of securing the whisk that I had been using. Then the idea of a hefty looking clamp grasping a delicate egg entered my mind.

A black towel was again used for the background. The vice was being held up by vice-grips clamped onto them and the vice-grips/ clamp combination was prevented from tipping by placing a heavy book on the vice-grips. Kind of a silly setup, but it worked. Again I used a little LCD flashlight that has an option for red light. Processed to taste using masks, both auto and manual and even some spot dodging and burning.

All in all it was a lot of fun and I am very happy with the result.

Then I squeezed some more.
