Operating on train tracks in the famous Maeklong Railway Market. In Thai, they call it the "umbrella pulldown market". As a train approaches, the awnings and merchandise are moved back from the tracks just far enough to allow the train to pass.
I first visited this market in 2011 when it wasn't on the tourism radar - today its a major spectacle of people wanting to see the train squeeze through the market.
Stop squeezing me!
Stop manspreading on the subway
Stop making me feel like I have to be
more petite to fit
in a tiny world.
When, the world is vast
and big enough for all of us.

This tall, narrow building sits adjacent to Gas Town, Vancouver, BC. Utilizing the lamp posts, and other structures illustrates just how tight some areas of urban life can feel.

One of my favourite little things is my tea bag squeezer. I don't want to chance burning my drum fingers.

I think that most birds try to distance themselves from a perceived threat, and when that's not possible, they try to hide behind branches, leaves, or even single blades of tall grass.
This male Scarlet Tanager missed the "safe" distance by squeezing through nearly bare branches, which provided no cover at all. Thank you Mr. Tanager.
There are lots of places for Milu to sit, including the large basket behind her but Milu loves sitting in the tissue box. I have had a really bad chest cold this week and there is nothing worse than using a fur covered tissue - lol

the tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)
The juvenile frogmouth is squeezed between its sibling and their mother. Their father is perching on another branch below them.
This yellow-crowned night heron chick was kind enough to briefly raise its head so I could squeeze off a couple of shots clear of the stick in its nest.
There were many yellow-crowned nests ranging from eggs to almost-ready-to-fledge chicks on Sanibel this year. Unfortunately, several nests were lost due to predation of some sorts. Nature can be so wonderful and cruel at the same time.

These buildings are by highway 401 in Mississauga, Ontario. I've always liked their shape and wanted to photograph them during my trips but never had the chance. We always pass by them and drive to Toronto. I apologize for the blur, this is the best I was able to get at 120km/hr :)

I am happy to say that the brown egg in yesterday's post was not harmed in the making of the image. I can not say the same for this white egg, but then I could hardly expect it.
This was more countertop fun. I brought in this vice, some vicegrips and a spring clamp in hopes of securing the whisk that I had been using. Then the idea of a hefty looking clamp grasping a delicate egg entered my mind.
A black towel was again used for the background. The vice was being held up by vice-grips clamped onto them and the vice-grips/ clamp combination was prevented from tipping by placing a heavy book on the vice-grips. Kind of a silly setup, but it worked. Again I used a little LCD flashlight that has an option for red light. Processed to taste using masks, both auto and manual and even some spot dodging and burning.
All in all it was a lot of fun and I am very happy with the result.
Our Daily Challenge: "Environmental/Candid Portrait"
The challenge was to photograph a person in their usual environment, such as their place of work. While it may not be obvious (and actually, I hope that it isn't), it took a fair amount of work to put the focus of this image on the server squeezing the lemonade, and to make him the "subject" of the photo, while also showing some detail about his environment and workplace.
So I am also submitting this shot for Sliders Sunday.
