This is the Howard Springs Reserve, Northern Territory and fresh water flow from the nearby springs. A Carpentaria Palm, growing on the bank, has fallen partially over and has since started growing up towards the light. I photographed it from all angles. Was not happy with it when I saw it on the screen. Went back again, luckily it is only a few minutes down the road. took some more shots, walked to the other side, more shots and ended up with the first shot i took.

Spring time and a week off = time to bust out the camera again! Had a spontaneous little springtime shoot with my friend and it felt really good to be back behind the camera and back in the editing world. I'm still a little out of it, but in time it will all come back!

I should have brought my other lens. This was shot with a 17-55, and it has too much veiling and ghosting flare. It is especially bad at the wide end where this shot was taken.

Wild violets are another sure sign of Spring. Like all wild flowers, they think gardens are for sissies and rules are made to be broken. They seem to be happiest along roadsides, and sidewalks and get a particular delight in adding their purple accents to otherwise perfectly manicured grassy lawns. :) Have a great weekend!
I went up to Middlebury, Vermont yesterday to drop off a couple of prints for the up-coming "Natural Wonders" Exhibition at the Photoplace Gallery. Check it out if you are in the area, June 22nd through July 17th. The day was overcast and rainy, but the soft light was great for the spring bloom along the way. Rochester, Vermont.

Quite a few of you know that I play the piano. I don't think I'm particularly great at it--I probably do better at photography most times--but nothing I've done with a camera has ever brought me as much enjoyment as playing the piano has. I've recently put a couple of recordings online. Maybe one of them will resonate with you? That would be cool...
