Another shot of a monarch from the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Butterfly Garden. What drew me to this shot is the amount of detail! What do you spot?
The cherry blossoms in Maidzuru Park, close to where the old castle used to stand, in downtown Fukuoka City in Southern Japan. As always, the area was very crowded, especially during the photogenic blue hour.
I love to see clumps of daffodils growing in the 'wild'. I thought this was a pretty scene, and I could imagine throwing down a blanket and sitting here with a picnic (if it wasn't so windy and chilly on that particular day!)
April...was a strange mix of snow showers, frosts, chilly mornings, but also some lovely warm sunny days...here we are in early May...cold, wet...if it wasn't for the spring flowers in the garden you'd think it was late autumn!

Spring in the southern Yukon this year is about 3 weeks early. This shot today with a stream flowing out of Fish Lake, with most of the snow gone from its banks.

Der Frühling ist angekommen :)

The spring has arrived :)
Hoffmann von Fallersleben August Heinrich (1798-1874)
Schöner Frühling, komm doch wieder,
Lieber Frühling, komm' doch bald,
Bring' uns Blumen, Laub und Lieder
Schmücke wieder Feld und Wald.
Auf die Berge möcht' ich fliegen,
Möchte seh'n ein grünes Tal,
Möcht in Gras und Blumen liegen
Und mich freu'n am Sonnenstrahl.
(als Volkslied bekannt)
Hoffmann von Fallersleben August Heinrich (1798-1874)
Beautiful spring, come on back,
Dear spring, come soon,
Bring us flowers, foliage and songs
Decorate the back field and forest.
The mountains would I fly,
Would like to see a Green Valley.
Want to lie in the grass and flowers
And n to the Sunbeam looking forward.
(known as folk song)
We had the promise of Spring for a few days when it went above zero but it is bitterly cold once again and will stay that way for the forseeable future. It's supposed to go down to -22C on Friday - no relief in sight for my cabin fever just yet.
This is actually an old photograph taken when I was living in Tromsø, Norway some years ago - now that was time spent in the North - well above the Polar Circle. Ironically, Tromsø has a milder climate than the one here even though I am living much farther south now. We don't have the Norwegian Sea nearby to keep us warm. James Bay and Hudsons Bay are just north of us but they are truly 'arctic waters' and don't have warm currents from the south flowing through them - which explains our polar climate even though we are relatively far south - on the Canadian map at least :)
I hope Edvard Munch is smiling? My alternate title is, of course, "The Scream."
When it’s -25 outside and only the beginning of February, and you are feeling down in the dumps the reminiscence of spring inspires you. Smell of the sea, breeze, sound of the waves…..
Spring will come!
Do you remember the first time you fall in love? Cause I do.
Every time the cherry leaves fall I remember my first love.
It was a fateful spring morning, the cherry trees were falling spreading their perfume on the street and I saw him for the first time.
He was smiling with his black eyes and his hair was wet from the rain that had just fallen, He looked at me and I felt my heart racing, cheeks subtly blush, He asked my name and then time stopped, oh that sweet feeling.
Every Spring we go through the battle of the seasons! Winter just won't let go! Hopefully all the tender little buds on the trees will survive and thrive!
