For this week's (Monday 23 April) Macro Mondays theme of 'Plastic' - I prepared this hackneyed composition but switched a real egg for a small plastic one and mounted it atop two small plastic forks. The total extent of the image is about 5" vertically and 2.5" horizontally (including the reflection) which is too big for Macro Mondays' 3" restriction so I thought I'd post it tonight rather than post a cropped version tomorrow - I'll have to use my back-up image for the main event.

Number 265 of my 365 photo challenge - A split-toned, landscape image of some hay bales in a field under the late afternoon, Autumn sun in Perthshire, Scotland.
I am on the home stretch now. Only 100 more to go and I most definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel! :-)

HDR. 'cathedral' On Black. this is for john and his little boy tyler. i went back here to shoot this at noon, hoping for this light. i also got stuck in the snow and john pushed me out and refused to take any money from me. if you ever see this john, thanks.

First go with a new (actually, gently used) tilt-shift lens, shifted down to capture the rocks in the immediate foreground while keeping the lamp posts perfectly vertical without the crop-inducing, post-processing transform trickery. My understanding is that one should be able to also tilt the lens to achieve the same depth of field at a larger (sharper) aperture. Unfortunately the tilt and shift axes on this lens (PC-E NIKKOR 24mm F3.5D ED) are orthogonal and fixed, so in this case I would have only been able to tilt the lens left or right. Apparently the axes can be made parallel (but still fixed) by either Nikon or a brave owner with YouTube access and a small screwdriver.

Personal note: With prime cycling and house project season coming to an abrupt end, I hope to pick up the camera more. Wishing everyone well. -Mike

Sadly many of the old fishing huts and other remnants have completely collapsed or disappeared. Every time I visit Dungeness, there is at least one less thing to photograph. Apart from a few of the old boat wrecks you now need to sear out for llittle details. This rusty post and cable caught my eye for a low shot with the 35mm prime.
My post production version of a haunted building, part of the Dominican Building series taken in Baguio, Philippines. Numbers 1-5 will be released soon.

Jökulsárlón or the Glacier Lagoon in Iceland is one of the most amazing places on Earth. You don't usually get to see huge chunk of ice floating around like this. These ice are ancient, about 1000 years old or even longer. The "dirt" that you see is actually volcanic ash, embedded in the ice during volcanic eruption.
The image was post-processing entirely in Lightroom. I like this image because it gives me a sense of serenity, a moment of peace while chaos is frozen in time.
Thanks for viewing and have a great day! Happy holidays! :))

I was making Rock candy for another project, and I couldn't help but notice how cool the bubbles looked. So of course I broke out the old Nifty-Fifty and went to work getting this shot. I converted to greyscale and then split toned with a grey blue and a very light green.

Come walk with me, come talk with me
through the evening gloom
and though the day will fade away
our friendship will have grown
A different kind of sunset is what San Francisco has to offer, with its fast moving low clouds around the city, serving as a filter to the sunlight. The modern architecture shown is the Hamon Observation Deck of the deYoung Museum, constructed around two decades ago.

So tired of all the darkness in our lives
With no more angry words to say
Can come alive
Get into a car and drive
To the other side

The Pentwyn Reservoir or Dolygaer Lake was the first reservoir, as it was built in 1858. The Lower and Upper Neuadd reservoirs followed and then a fourth reservoir was constructed south of Pentwyn to merge the two into the Pontsticll Reservoir and create a stretch of water over 2 miles long. The Ponsticll Reservoir was completed in 1927. The constructing the reservoir involved the flooding of the land belonging to eight farms, as well as some cottages and small holdings.
