Greyfriars Bobby Statue
The Greyfriars Bobby Fountain is a granite fountain in Edinburgh, surmounted by a bronze life-size statue of Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for supposedly spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner John Gray until the dog itself died on 14 January 1872.
The memorial was commissioned by Lady Burdett-Coutts, president of the Ladies Committee of the RSPCA, shortly before the dog died and the bronze statue was made from life by William Brodie.
His polished nose comes from folk petting him as they pass by, a tradition that is still observed by both local and visitors alike.

This shot was inspired by Tony. He always makes the ordinary look extraordinary and it fascinates me. I wanted to take a leap out of my box and try some new things. Thanks Tony for inspiring me.

What a delight! On Saturday we took our granddaughter to visit the incredible gingerbread displays in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Vancouver (please see the series below ).
.
Ginger[bread] Lane Makes Sweet Return
The most decadent lane in the city returns for the 22nd year to the lobby of Hyatt Regency Vancouver from Wednesday, November 28, 2012 through Thursday, December 27, 2012. Previously recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for housing the tallest gingerbread man, Gingerbread Lane welcomes more than 20,000 visitors annually. Much more than a holiday attraction, Gingerbread Lane has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon.
[...].
The centrepiece of the popular event is Hyatt Regency Vancouver’s Executive Sous Chef Daniel Chiang’s gigantic gingerbread house measuring [3.3m] 11 feet tall and [4.8] 16 feet wide. Ingredients include 500 pounds of gingerbread dough, 400 pounds of confectioners’ sugar and 1,400 egg whites, plus a few secret ingredients and a little help from Hyatt Regency Vancouver's engineering department. [...].. More than 40 individually crafted gingerbread creations from culinary professionals, amateurs, and secondary schools round out the sweet smelling lavish displays.

Today I was surprised by the visit of Danbo, he asked me if I knew where he was born...'cause he's made of cardboard boxes ....Together we've searched for hours and finally we came to the archieves of my work....there he stood for minutes looking at all the fine designs we've produced out of cardboard... softly I heard him calling.........mama?

...it comes complete with a desk and chair and a desktop that lifts.
I can sit here and ponder the minutes away if I wish.
The items on the desk top is artwork on Conch Fungi left by kids that had visited over the weekend.
Not sure if this was an additional entrance or exit... I didn't care to explore further just in case.
Something a little different. In Aventura Florida a couple weeks ago for a trade show. After all my meetings that day, grab my camera and wandered the grounds.
It was 90 degrees out, but there was a slight breeze..it was great to feel, but not great for taking photo's! lol I shot a lot of different Palms, but many where distorted due to the wind.
Here are three different ones.
Shot in B&W.
Be well all...

Thought I'd show you what I've been doing the last few days. :) I was totally away from my computer, and it was oddly liberating. I fly back to Tucson tomorrow, so I'll be home and checking in with you all.
I have been in love with this red barn in Galena, Illinois (Eagle Ridge, to be exact) since I was teeny tiny. I have loads of shots of this from yesterday. I'll pepper them into my uploads so you don't get sick of it. We drove past so, so many beautiful barns and farms, and with the snow cover, everything looked magical. This is the only barn I got to shoot, but I'm okay with that for now.
Explored!
...I have here even my own cathedral;)

Cotton on the roadside, cotton in the ditch.
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich.
Daddy was a veteran, a southern democrat.
They oughta get a rich man to vote like that.
Song, song of the south.
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth.
Gone, gone with the wind.
There ain't nobody looking back again.

Y`all come back now, ya hear?!
I used a ring soft box which has became my new favorite toy, and I also used an off camera flash from the right side set at 1/64 and I got the dark shadow I wanted on his face. Hope you guys enjoy.
