470 comes down the new trackage over Irving Park and passes Tower B17 as it makes it's way to Galewood and eventually the Belt.
Looking back at last year's shots from Morgan Run, I found this and thought, "That needs to be shared!" Enjoy looking.

This is an old building downtown with a new mural on the side of it. As I was taking a shot of it the upstairs tenant came out of the door. The mural honors Maya Angelou and I had a brief conversation with the lady about how lovely the mural is and what an inspiring woman Maya Angelou was.

With Worldwide Pinhole Day coming up next Sunday (the 29th) I decided to try out something new: making a tintype using my 4x5 Zero Image pinhole camera. Because light conditions were hazy by mid-afternoon, using an actual pinhole would have translated into a 14 minute exposure on collodion (not possible), I opted to use the Zone Plate "lens" the Zero Image offers. This allowed me to make an exposure in 110 seconds. I rather like the feel of the image and it could be put to good use in the right situation.
Collodion used was UV Photographics "Lea #7 Landscape", developed with the B&S developer.
we bought three trees last week and this is the one that is now planted in the front yard. It's called something like 'purple leafed plum', although I don't know if it makes fruit or what. They are growing all over our area so we thought it would be a good tree for our yard, and it's just so pretty!

I started planning and puling fabrics for my next project. A value quilt based on the scrap block I made earlier this week. I think my favorite part of a new project is picking the fabrics. I'm using 48 different ones for this quilt.
RJ Corman GP9 9003 and RP20BD 5400 sit near the shop in Lexington, KY.
9003 was built in 1956 as BO 6501 to Chessie-BO 6501 to CSX, assigned 0501 but never renumbered, to RJC 9003.
5400 was built by Railpower in 2007 from NENE GP38 9702 as RPRX 5400. When RJC acquired RP, it became RJC 5400.
At the end of 70's, Mercedes-Benz had an old-fashioned reputation of doing big cars, for rich and old people. But engineers at Benz's office want to change this statement.
They were ready to produce something new, and more affordable for younger drivers too. This was the basis specs of the 190 (code name : W201), also called baby-benz.
Officially presented at Francfort car show in 1983, this new car had the height of a little family car, but the shape of its bigger sisters (200, 230, ...).
With this picture, we can clearly see the filiation between her and the 300D Turbo Diesel. The rear side of these two cars is pretty equivalent, only the design is a little bit fresher on the 190E.
At its launch, the car was available with 2 engines, called 190 & 190E. The first one was 2 liters petrol inline 4 with carburetor, and the other one is delivered with injection. This system permit the 190E to improve its power to 122hp.
Both models were available with a manual or automatic transmission, with 4 gears. With supplement, you could choose for an extra 5th gear on the manual.
At the end of its commercial period, the 190 was a success for Mercedes who have won its bet on both side. First one, they achieved to produce almost 2 millions of 190 (all versions included), and second one, they gain younger clients and diversify their range of products.

The White-throated Magpie Jay (Calocitta formosa) was another abundant bird throughout most Pacific lowland sites in Nicaragua. This one was in Ometepe at Finca del Sol. I wish all birds were like these jays, which seem to have a strong sense of curiosity, almost always flying in to check out any human who walks through their territory. They make a variety of vocalizations, there were many occasions when I thought I was hearing something new and exotic and it turned out to be another of these. My idea of what a "mockingjay" would look like.

It seems that the Jones' has upgraded their creaky old windmill to a new fangled turbine. It not only waters the herd, but supplies the house with air conditioning. All that they need now is ...windows.
This is a house that James took me to somewhere in north central Iowa.
I’m trying something new for today’s photo.
My class was assigned a project in a color theory class while I was in college a couple years ago. We had to pick a pair of complimentary colors and paint a simple dichromatic design. It was my first time working with gouache paint, but the results were beautiful. The defined colors gave each painting an aspect of elegance.
I’ve been inspired by my youth, my past memories, and my childhood recently. Brief glimpses of my past keep rushing into mind and I wish I could just capture it all, just for a moment. I’m not sure if this reminiscing is creatively inspiring for me, or if it is destructive. I think it is a little bit of both, and I just need to look at these memories as a positive reminder that I will make more happy memories in the future.
exposing the skin on their faces correctly in camera meant blowing out the background - and I did it just with this in mind - using a texture
love the expression on her face - that's what she did the whole entire time - run, splash in the water, and laugh... lots of laughter!! <3
Something old because the lighthouse has been there way way longer than me. Something new because, despite the many shoots I've done of this landmark I've never captured it quite like this before. Credit must be awarded to Mick B (Northumbrian Blue) for draging me down here then suggesting this viewpoint, and I'll have to say I prefer his comp to mine.
not very exciting, but I wanted to upload something new that wasn't wildlife.
Here is the link to my new 365 stream .....one photo every day for a year!!!
