My new basket for my various rolls of paper - it was standing outside the Brockenstübli (a sort of second hand/thrift shop) around the corner just when I decided I needed one.

Taken for Focus52, week one's prompt: New

I got a ride in the passengerseat in this amazing car. To bad it was raining and getting a little dark when we stopped to take some shots. I kept this shot a little dark cause I liked the sinister feeling!

I know I know, I've been away yet again for a while, BUT, I am here to say that I should be getting back into the rhythm of things and posting more in the coming weeks. Good news is is that I have finally received my new toy, the Sony A77 which so far from the little that I've been able to play with it I absolutely love. So many features that are packed into this little thing which I bought with a 16-50mm 2.8 lens that I'll be trying to find as much time as possible shooting anything and everything.

Now aside from the new camera I posted this picture because photographing stars is relatively new to me. I've tried it before with no success but hopefully through more practice I will be able to get higher quality star images.

Just thought I'd upload something... it's been a while.

Had a little dress up day today to try some new makeup techniques as I've been pretty much doing things the same way since about 2013. Lighter foundation, different eye makeup and a different colour lips, although I lost patience with the glue on eyelashes and gave up!

So... apart from the obvious difference that I'm actually smiling in this pic, is it any better than before?

The choices are:

A) Yep, I can see the improvement

B) Nah, stick with what you know

C) Meh, you look exactly the same

And indeed I do, love bringing something different, when I can.

Not in total darkness, merely setting the ambiance, to reflect the mood of how I feel.

Nothing ‘touched up’ no Photoshop. No nothing. Simply the camera and I. What I snap, is what you get. Pure and simple. Most times, it just takes much longer, to produce something half-decent. An hour and a half spent on one scene, to produce one single photo, is worth it ... to me.

I only bring, what I want to see from others and that is ..... Something different and something new.

Fall for you

we looked at this wave for a while and from what we saw it looked to have real potential, we hadn't heard of this ever being surfed and it wasn't until the boys paddled out that we found out why, looks can be decieving.

I am experimenting with some photos I took today by adding textures. It's early days but I'm enjoying it.

View On Black

This week I learned that deer, like cats, are curious about their surroundings. When the mom and her son swung by our place on their circuit through the area, mom paused for a moment to inspect the newly planted umbrella pine that wasn't there during her last visit.

She looked at it carefully from several angles before moving on. It might seem like the deer is having a nibble, but that's a trick of perspective. There are much tastier things to eat here!

In the same place a century from now the doe's descendants may gaze up into the crown of a 40-foot-tall tree.

About the Umbrella Pine

The Japanese Umbrella Pine (i.e. Sciadopitys Verticillata) is not actually a pine, but is one of the world’s rarest and most unique coniferous evergreens dating back to the Triassic period, before the existence of dinosaurs. Originally comprising a variety of species and with a habitat spreading across continents, it became virtually extinct with its geographic range reduced to just two isolated areas in Japan and its diversity limited to a single species. Now considered a living fossil, it is genetic orphan being the only remaining member of the family Schiadopityaceae and of the genus Sciadopitys.

The Japanese Umbrella Pine derives its name from the whorls of needles that grow at the end of its branches and mirror the shape of an umbrella, covering the tree in a cloud of green. The needles are of the richest shade of green, soft, round, and waxy to the point that they look almost like plastic. They grow two to five inches in length in whorls of 20 to 30 needles each. They contrast elegantly against the bark, which is thick, soft, orange-brown and stringy. The photosynthetic needles, which are not actually leaves, are cladodes, or small photosynthetic stems. The leaves themselves are small, brown, resembling scales, and grow closely against the branches, just below the whorls of cladodes.

The Japanese Umbrella Pine, or Koyamaki as it is known in Japan, is found in the wild in just two areas of Japan; on the Nara Peninsula of Shikoku Island and in the mountains northeast of Nagoya in Honshu. The Koyamaki, as it is called, is one of the “five trees of Kiso” treated as sacred in Japan and its image serves as a crest for the Royal Family of Japan. Historically, its spicy scented, water-resistant wood was highly valued for making boats and its bark, in the form of oakum, for caulking. Now listed as vulnerable, it is far too rare to be used as anything other than a highly prized ornamental to be found in many of the world’s leading gardens.

Sciadopitys makes a uniquely attractive ornamental with year round luxuriant green foliage and orange-brown bark. They are extremely slow growing, which is why mature specimens are rare and expensive, as they typically achieve no more than six inches of growth a year to a maximum height of 25 to 40 feet. It can take 100 years for a sapling to fully mature. This unique, rare, and long-lived conifer serves as prominent focal point in any garden setting whose extraordinary beauty and history can’t help but draw interest.

This summer the Downy Woodpeckers have been drinking from my hummingbird feeders and emptying them quickly. Both females and males are enjoying the sugar water. They are constantly at the feeders and the Hummingbirds are not happy about it.

Just wanted to share something with the gear nerds....

Recent acquisitions, modern and vintage manual lenses. Both were insane bargains and essentially new!

The Samyang 12mm f/2.8 (FE-mount) is a 'stereographic Fish-eye'. Not a conventional one as this lens fills the entire frame and has a wider view.

The Promaster Spectrum 7 is actually a Sigma Mini-Wide II 28mm f/2.8. Promaster was a camera store brand that commissioned third party manufacturers for their products.

What came as a surprise was the design is 6 elements in 6 groups. I always assumed Sigma had a conventional 7 in 7 formula. Hmmm.

Something new for me - a dusk shoot using flash guns. Many thanks to Phil for the loan of his flash guns and for his technical input ... much appreciated

I'm quite pleased with the results for a first effort!

Accentuating the grain. This is something new for me.

...ploughing through all the old photos, I do tend to forget that I could post something new!!

I'm old .... and I've been a photographer for a long time .... but today was the first time I ever tried this .... a panorama shot .... I've mostly done portrait photography and for some reason this process never entered my head until last nite when I was reading a review for a simple point and shoot camera ..... I love this for my first try ... I think I'm the last guy on the planet to figure this out .... but it's nice to learn something new ... have no idea why this took me so long ..... now just have to get better at it ....

Easily the most complex mammal design of mine so far.

All critiques and comments are welcome! I finally folded something new, it's only been about a year since the last model. I guess to my credit the last one was the stegosaurus which is even more complex than this one...

Designed by Shuki Kato

Folded from one 56 cm or 22 inch square of elephant hide paper

Size: About 20 cm or 8 inches tall

She has been such a sleepyhead lately. Not sure what's up. Trying a little different processing as well. I need to switch it up every now and then.

It is a different perspective view from Hawk Hill to see this famous landmark in the city with the Golden Gate Bridge. Something new for me to try :)

Today would have been his 12th birthday. I owe so much to this boy, He’s the reason I fell in love with Photography. I can’t remember a time where you weren’t there, in the backyard chasing me... pulling my pants off, fending off two rowdy labs because “THIS ONE IS MINE”, pushing me down so you could run inside, and most recently... taking up the whole bed and waking me up with your old man snoring. This dog has been nothing but loyal his whole life. He was supposed to be a family dog, but he decided from the beginning he was strictly a Brittany dog, and honestly, I’m glad it turned out that way. When everything else was failing terribly, your love and loyalty carried me through. I just can’t find the words to explain how much this guy has done for me. Even on the days I was too busy to pay too much attention he was happy just being with me. He may be just a dog to you, but he has been by my side, devotedly, for TWELVE years, I’ve taken care of him when he’s sick, cleaned up after him, cried when he had to go to the vet, happy danced when he learned something new, and hurt when he hurt so to me... he is more than he will ever know. “A true hero, will never be truly recognized, for he has no idea he is a hero at all.” My heart dog, my hero. “Sargent The Great”

Waiting before an evening out?

Something new for "big" girls. They will be available on eBay next week. I have new account on eBay and have some problems with it I hope I will deal with it on time.

I think I like doing shoes for Sybarite dolls the most, they have amazing feet and I can make really high shoes for them. I like high heels, I was wearing 12cm heels on my weeding and every party after this event. :) I was about 185cm tall :)

But next shoes will be lower. I think about flat shoes for FR 16". What do you think?

Actually, it's all new lol.

I was wearing the Blueberry Breeanna dress when I got the vest from Emery and decided I wanted to wear it with a shorter version. Turns out that is the Sophia dress, same idea with less options, but I went over and got it right away. Paired it with the vest, my new Abigail boots from Phedora, my Deva Asura necklace from (luc) and my new Twyla animated hair from Little Bones. All in all a good day at Uber.

So trialing something new; This is the first. The tester if you will. And I'm going to see how it goes at tomorrows Market Stall.

For now though, what do you guys think? What would you like to see as the next one? Would you get one for your childs room? Your own? Comment below and let me know what you think;

I was thinking a little.. After I took this photo at a stunning location here in Stavanger, perhaps I should try something new. I do enjoy using photoshop to experiment with lighting however I was thinking I should take a step further perhaps? Any thoughts? Do you guys enjoy looking at this type of photography? :)

...Posveceno ortaku koji me svojom upornoscu inspirise i fascinira iznova i iznova...Yo Mupok one!!! ;)
