thought I would try something a little different with the brush embroidery. I wanted them to look like blooming roses. I think it worked pretty well :)

Exploring the Eastern Oregon Museum in Haines Oregon
Spent a little time exploring Baker County's history at the Eastern Oregon Museum in Haines. Always a fun afternoon and amazing that we find something new every time we go.
The Eastern Oregon Museum is housed in the old Haines School Gymnasium. Built with local labor in 1932, the building cost $5,000 to erect and construction funds were raised by the Haines PTA and the Haines School District. Over the years it has hosted basketball games, community dances, public meetings and craft fairs. Following WWII, the Haines and Baker School Districts merged, reducing the demand for the building and the School District deeded the building to the City of Haines on the condition in remain in the public domain. The City later deeded the building to the Eastern Oregon Museum.
Established in 1959 the Eastern Oregon Museum is celebrating 60 years as Baker County's oldest all volunteer museum. The Eastern Oregon Museum maintains the building and the immense collection of historic artifacts, photos, and documents documenting and telling the history of Haines, Baker County, and Eastern Oregon. The diverse collection of artifacts on display provide a look at the families who settled the area, and the daily events that shaped their lives. It is a unique, hands-on education that helps foster an understanding of the Haines area and its heritage.
For more information about the Eastern Oregon Museum visit their website. For more information about other Baker County museums and historic sites and attractions visit Baker County tourism's website at www.travelbakercounty.com
Classic 2.6 litre Austin Healey from 1957, 0-60mph in, well, who cares...
or a 2006 Lotus with a 1.8 litre Toyota engine, 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds...
Which would you choose?

My dolls recently got a bunch of new clothes from rRabit :) I'd been keeping an eye on this light violet jacket thing for months and finally decided to order it, luckily just in time before it was sold out! It has detachable hood and sleeves, so that it can be used as both jacket and vest ^^
I also changed her wig from the two-tone pastel color back to this black one, which I had intended as her default. I do like this one more on her, so I decided that my girlfriend's Kikipop can have the pastel wig (that she already stole XD)

Today I tried a vintage treatment I read about recently. It is created by using one full color layer, one black and white layer, and one sepia layer. Then the opacity on the B&W and sepia layers are reduced until you find the look you want. In this case the sepia is set to around 40% opacity, the b&w is around 50%. Easy peasy.

Sparkling in fresh paint, brand new RTA F40PH 105 sits on display at North Western Station in Chicago. 105 was the latest in motive power built to replace the many aging units in use at the time on various RTA operated lines. 105 would become Metra property in 1984 and continues to see regular commute service as of 2025. Note the info placard propped up against the side of the loco.

Back to the recent past. After my last set with M338 I zipped back to Waterloo to make sure I wasn't missing any moves on the Iowa Northern. With no pending transfers, I stopped by the home base of the newest operation that I had located earlier.
Waterloo Railroad is a Jaguar Transport operation. They operate 7 miles of track leased from Union Pacific. Railroading in Waterloo is an interesting conglomeration of former Illinois Central, Rock Island and Chicago Great Western mainlines. Only the old IC is intact as a through route, CN today. The CGW from Waterloo to Oelwein was retained to serve the shop there, much of that was eventually sold to Iowa Northern. UP did retain the "Waterloo Industrial Lead" the first 7 miles from Waterloo running east and home to several steady customers. In time the UP remnant of the CGW was leased to IANR. In 2024 with the sale of IANR to CN looming UP decided to break the lease with IANR. CN was on the verge of being the only game in town, traffic off the lead would have all gone to CN. Waterloo Railroad is the new operator and I assume there is a way to bill cars through to UP in Cedar Rapids as everything now must leave Waterloo via CN.
From a fan perspective, the Waterloo is a hit with it's ex-Santa Fe GP30s. The 2422 looks particularly nice. The crew has come on duty and fired up the old Geep with the cold north wind blowing it sideways while they perform a walk around inspection of the power. November 11, 2024.

Although it's highly unlikely that you'd be able to shift one of these. it just goes to show how rich farmers are when they can afford to leave a couple of grands worth of tyres lying around in the back of beyond....
The Grateful Dead (now Dead and Company) is both something old and something new. Although formed in 1965, I knew nothing of them before the 80's, when I became a young fan. Now my wife is online getting our tickets for the summer 2017 tour. BTW...The beer is new, and very tasty.
. . . which I'm a little anxious about sharing. Be kind to her - we're only just getting to know each other.

something new would be great but this is the old me, an old shot just cropped and processed differently. i'm feeling kind of stagnant, photographically speaking. haven't touched my camera in over a week. so hopefully this weekend i'll get inspired to shoot something..other than myself. LOL
Have a great weekend! Be safe out there, kids.
