As a favor for my post production specialist, Stephanie, I did a shoot with Angilee. A NICU nurse that needed a portfolio for a charity modeling group. Proceeds go to organizations such as SPCA, March of Dimes, etc.

Softbox is about 4ft away camera right. Image was shot using modeling lamp only. Post processing was done layering the same image on top of each other several times an letting it mask through.
The Eagles built by Dan Gurney´s All American Racers successfully competed in the Indianapolis 500 during the 1970´s, winning the race in 1973 and 1975. This lovely 1:18 Carousel 1 model was photographed under my homemade softbox, using continuous light, and shows the car driven by rookie driver Pancho Carter in the 1974 Indy 500. Although Carter had never driven a rear engined car before this race, he finished 7th after a 21st place start, and so won “Rookie of the Year”. Carter´s AAR Eagle wedded a fibreglass body to an aluminium monocoque chassis; the Drake “Offy” 4 cylinder 825hp engine powered the 700kg car to 350kph (220mph).
These photos were taken by using a modified flash hood that I created using foam I bought at a craft store for $2.30. I then used the plans shown by this link: super.nova.org/DPR/DIY01/ I hope Sony doesn't get mad that I put their logo on it.
Just got this app for I-Pad, Looks fun What do people think? No other lighting Except Soft Box ( Apart from daylight)

The pictures are sooc, shot with my Nikon, lighted with a softbox.
Developed in Aperture using the printing dialog.
Self portrait in front of large octagonal softbox. Wrap around edge lighting provided by the softbox. Slight front fill from camera pop up turned down. Metz 60 on full power in softbox. Even lighting in the softbox requires a clip on diffuser to make the flash radiate more like a bare bulb.
This is a demonstration of the idea rather than a good photograph. The white bearded model with black woolly hat was carefully chosen to provide difficult high dynamic range in the rim. And the "studio" is cold :-)
This is in effect a huge ring flash used for back lit rim lighting. Control of the degree of wrap-in of the rim light and its direction is adjusted by distance from the illuminated panel and size of central occluder.
Flash gun triggered by Cactus V2s.

just noticed this on memory card. from last week, prefer this to the picture i used!

This shot is showing the lights without the diffusion panel installed. Also the bottom "reflector" card, made of 1/4" mdf, was later covered in foil tape for better reflectivity.
Picked up a Creative Light 5 foot octabox yesterday, with grid,
Only test so far have been self portraits, but it gives a beautiful light, soft as fairy floss!
Update: this octa fell apart within 4 months without being used outside.. traded it in under warranty for its upper class cousin.. 5 ft Profoto octa, which is working so much better..
I didn’t spend the *entire* morning photographing the car. I spent a little time photographing God’s softbox. You just never know what kind of gels He/She will put over the light.

This shot was taken to test out my new softbox that I made out. It may not be a real strobe, but it does give plenty of nice, diffused light! You can see the details of the softbox here.
