My new favorite snack, pita crackers with spring onion jack cheese. Must be served on matching plate.;-)
We always carry snacks with us so we don't have to spend money eating out. Mr Chiots and I have a bag of snacks we keep by the door and we grab it when we're heading out, even if it's only a short trip. It includes water, usually some pretzels, apples, nuts, applesauce, and dried fruit. If we're planning on being away a while we'll pack peanut butter and bread.

We went East from the studio on our lunch photo walk today. We made it as far as the rink in Nathan Phillips Square. There are still a few protesters (Occupy Wall Street/Bay Street), a lot of construction and piles of kids enjoying the ice.
Kasumi passing out Christmas snacks (secretly hoping that no one wants that donut) while Koharu tries to give Amy "bunny ears" for the group photo, but is too short due to Amy's boots.
Snacks in vending machines, on the other hand, are not free. We can get those from other places though.

Three Rivers Snacks
New France hamlet, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Williamsburg, VA
Three Rivers is New France's snack stand, featuring funnel cakes, popcorn, and drinks. I'm not sure if the structure existed when the park opened in May 1975, but it's listed here in the late 1970s and early-mid 1980s under a generic "barbecue rib stand" title. By the mid 1980s it went by the name Three Rivers Smokehouse, which it retained until the opening of Trapper's Smokehouse across the way in March 2003.
it's not a road trip without pastry, right?
i'm kind of paranoid that i'll get hungry and crash at some inopportune moment, so i made a bunch of little portable pastries to have as snacks/emergency food. these are filled with spinach and feta; i made another batch filled with swiss cheese.
yummy.

After the rather disappointing experience with the Calzone, I chose muesli/nut bars today.
Frightfully sweet, more glucose syrop than nuts. The nuts are very small, so there is hardly a nut flavour. The list of ingredients is not very appealing: sugar, glucose, fructose, more sugar, honey, more glucose, salt, raising powder, colouring. Very few nuts, mostly the cheaper grains. This bar contains 219 kcal (919 kJ).
The claim "Lekker verantwoord" (two Dutch words which can mean different things, depending on how you say it, but here it probably means that the taste is good and that it is something you can eat without damaging your health) is pushing it a lot.
Overall grade: 4 out of 10.
More often than not, many snacks contain processed sugars, saturated fats and minimal fibre.
This guidelines will provide you with some pointers in choosing healthy snacks.
Herbed cream cheese on Ritz crackers. We were feeling peckish before dinner, so we had a plateful of these. Not sure what to make for dinner but liking the idea of spaghetti alla carbonara... Check back in a couple of hours to see what we've eaten for tonight... Back to spring cleaning the apartment now!
