This is a "Persian" ... a special Tasty Snack invented here in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in the early 20th century. and sold only here and around the region. It's a cinnamon bun with a sweet berry icing (cherry? strawberry? raspberry? ...the secret recipe has Persian lovers debating the issue!). Ex-Thunder Bay-ites across Canada have been known to have the local bakery send them Persians to satisfy the need for a Tasty home-city Snack.

It was after lunch and we had just returned to our banda. The local Yellow Baboon group were prancing back and forth across the river bed and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. This one found a tasty something-or-other in the shallows and stopped to eat it, all the while keeping an eye on the rest of the troop. The light was just lovely and we spent a happy half-hour watching them before hey returned to the river bank and all went quiet.
It really is amazing how many Green Herons are hanging out at the Palmyra Cove Nature Park in NJ. At least a dozen and likely more in one small area generally means one thing...an abundance of food! And this food is principally tadpoles and frogs in ponds that have dried up considerably over the past month. Hence, easy pickings for the Greenies. Here is one with a tadpole snack!

My 15 year old son Israel was stung by a scorpion that was on his pillow this morning.
It stung him in his lower back. Thank God he's doing fine but I was shaken up.
This mornings shenanigans inspired this new painting. I'm calling it Sweet Revenge ;-) Watercolor & Acrylic ink on hand made Twinrocker paper. 6" x 8".
These snacks in Old Town Dali (大理古城), drew my attention.
A wide variety of insects and bugs on skewers, including scorpions, centipedes, silk worms and more are offered. They have been enjoyed by locals in this area of Yunnan for several centuries, and now visiting tourists can try them too.

This little kitt was gorging on some long white mushrooms. He returned 3 times while we were there and left with a mouthful of mushrooms each time.
.. we didn't stop laughing doing this! I know Zeus likes ice cream. he's tasted it before, so when I made MissA one I made him one too. I wish I could share the all the photos with you but there are too many, I will post a couple more. He is still licking his lips!!
He is so gentle he licked it for ages before hiding the whole ice cream cornet in his mouth :) ♥
The take-away window at an abandoned diner on the west side of Yermo, California, a little community out in the Mojave Desert that's as much ghost town as it is anything else. Shot in June 2011.
