Trying to cheer myself up on a dreary, wet Monday with a late afternoon snack

Summer is that period of a year when many people, both young and old, much prefer cold snacks (for obvious reason) over other food.

"Halo-halo" (a Tagalog word which means mixed) is a popular treat in the Philippines made up of shaved ice, evaporated milk and various ingredients like sweetened kidney beans, gulaman (agar), sago and pinipig.

I thought this Eagle was about to drop down and grab a fish. It did not. When I looked closer, I saw this bird already had a small fish in it's beak. I don't know where he got this. Maybe a can of sardines in his back pocket.
Late night snack at a mountain restaurant. We ate...vegetable thing and drank dong dong ju. PS - dong dong ju sucks.
Back from my travels.. but I still have to find time to squeeze some dressing in there while the weather's still good. :)

Before Cheetos, Fritos and Doritios there was popcorn, a favorite snack in my family. Here I am, just turned three, with my oldest younger brother, who was not quite two, and a big bowl of popcorn.

I saw this squirrel in the distance as I was walking the trails at Kohler-Andrae State Park this morning. After I zoomed in on him I realized that I was distracting him from his mid-morning snack. Sorry, my little woodland friend!

One of the many monkeys that inhabit Batu Caves enjoys a snack handed off (or maybe stolen?) from a tourist. This was a banana, probably one of the healthier snacks that he could have had. There are many warnings about not feeding monkeys here - they can get quite aggressive so giving them a wide berth is probably the best idea.
I shall be away for a couple of weeks now as we've reached school holiday time. I'll be back later in the month from my travels.
Well, as cute as hoverflies are, they sometimes get the timing all wrong and fall into the clutches of a hungry predator like this small Jumping Spider (Salticidae sp.)
He was certainly enjoying the snack and was all green-eyed as I approached with my macro rig. Shortly after taking this he's had enough and scurried of with snack well in tow and disappeared into a crevice to enjoy in private. And who can blame him. I felt like a papparazzo outside a cafe.
