Sculpt progress on The Queen - ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale.

Plastic casting test on the head/jaw build. Rough test, nothing cleaned up or painted.

I used Smooth-On Smooth Cast 320. I do plan in casting the teeth in a transparent plastic eventually.

I've been molding and casting several pieces to my build over the past week or so and have taken some shots of the successes. Surprisingly everything turned out great for the exception of the Alien Warrior mold which I had to redo. More on that one later.

Here is a plastic casing of the four components to create the Alien Queen head and jaw. This is one of several variants that will be made to "plug and play" into the Queen's carapace.

I put one together using some of the initial pulls to get an idea how it will all work. Happy with the results. Next step will be moving onto the neck and variant head sculpts.

Comments/questions welcome! Hope you enjoy! More to come soon!

After several technical difficulties, I'm finally back on schedule to begin painting! Haven't painted in quite some time so it's nice to mix things up a bit. Speaking about mixing up, that's what I've been doing over the past couple days - mixing paint! LOL!

Already have a few coats of gray acrylic (primer) applied to the Newborn heads. Jeunet only needs one but I always like to have two worked up just in case.

May even have time to paint up a couple other Alien (79) figures that were tabled!

Will take shots of my progress and update when I can.

Urban Fox Studio using Smooth-On EZ Spray Silicone 22 to make heat resistant silicone sheets for a high-temp refractory application. EZ Spray Silicone 22 is dispensed using SilCon III machine.

Created using Smooth-Cast 320 resin from Smooth-On.

Molding several mods of the Newborn head/torso sculpt (Alien: Resurrection).

I initially wanted to shoot some video of the process but the ten-dollar tripod I purchased from Amazon broke and went sailing across the room so that's not going to happen. Ah well, you get what you paid for LOL! I'll try again later - got a bunch more molds to make here soon.

I still wanted to document the process so I took several pictures. Hope these will help without much explanation. I'm using Smooth On Mold Star 320 SLOW - A platinum silicone.

Oops! My pour hole was too small and I was pouring too slow. Only 1/4 of the solution made it into the mold before curring set it.

Paint test for the Newborn head sculpt - Alien: Resurrection.

As said, this is a paint test...not much detailing added, it helps me figure what paints necessary, as well as custom mixes that may be needed. Also helps to familiarize myself with the terrain so to speak...so I don't screw up on a final casting. Simply put - it's a practice piece.

There's many interpretations of the creatures skin color - some have it fleshy, pale appearance (like seen in the film), others have a greenish/gray hue. I will stick with the production/prop tones (which is a mix of both) for this piece. Love the dark, soulless eyes...ohhhh eerie!

I have my paint selected, mixed and ready to begin the final application for the sample that will be on display in France during the Caro/Jeunet expo in October. Updates coming soon! #painting #newborn #alien #customactionfigure #monsters

This is made from Smooth-On's Oomoo 30 Silicone. Like the company says, it's not very sturdy. I was able to cast 17 heads until small defects & rips began to appear. However, I'm very rough with my molds.. and I don't use mold release, I think it would have lasted longer if I had.

But, it's so easy to use that I would rather make a new mold than mess around with difficult to use silicons (the ones that require a pressure pot and accurate measurement, etc). It's also easy and relatively cheap to buy (www.dickblick.com + 30% off coupon yay)

Another view of the body mold.

A gel-filled silicone stomach appliance I created for @[817218953:2048:Jesse] Atlas's "Rec-Play" starring @[1300403265:2048:Mustafa Effortless Shakir]. I used Smooth-@[1018062069:2048:On]'s Eco-Flex Platinum Silicone deadened with Slacker. Brought to life by @[692479331:2048:Mustafa].

Super Sculpey Firm fetal skull sculpted to molded for halloween props. My 4th sculpture ever.

Mold making part II! The silicone set without any bubbles which made me pretty happy.

I used some magazine pages on the bottom since I didn't have enough of the gray clay to fill the entire box. Good thing, too, because that clay was difficult to dig out. As soon as I got down to the rubber, though, it was fairly easy to get out and to clean the area.

Use a little Vaseline so the the second half doesn't stick, mixed my silicone, and poured it in. All I gotta do is set it and forget it. Hoping this all turns out. When it's all cured, I'll cut a channel in the bottom so I can pour in some resin and get to making some toys!

10 faces of Asi Israelof. Buba shel laila. Make-up by Rinat Alony,Richard Takach,Sivan Segal.Wigs By Rivka Zehavi-Raya Sinvani.

I left these original size to show as much detail as possible. The bottoms of the feet came out better than I had expected.

All of the new pieces will require plenty of touch up, but significantly less than the first molds generated.

Still, it definitely gives me plenty of pause before considering any sort of limited edition run in this current state.

Some lasercut tags from awesome scrapbooking paper.

2nd attempt much more successful. However, you can see the instability of this mold has too much spillage and not a tight enough seal. The vent holes worked well enough. The next mold will use stiffer, plexi-glass walls and will be more level.

Processed side of the dragon.

Both hearts treated with XTC-3D. The resin one was tipped over and has some marring as a result. It'll buff out ;)
