This is a Honeycrisp apple.
I'd done the sagittally sliced apple, and had a different idea in mind when I noticed they are quite attractive slice laterally as well.
Friends are coming over for lunch. I should be slicing more and shuttering less - I just thought the greens were pretty. :)
This is a Braeburn apple, also with a very nice core to it, full of seeds.

Gammon is the name given to the meat from the hind legs of a pig that has been cured in the same way as bacon. Popular at Christmas.

I went traditional and did a classic ham, Gruyère and green olive version because it was my first time making one, but next time I plan on experimenting more...maybe zucchini, or smoked salmon. The beauty of this is that you can use any ingredients you feel like using, or perhaps what you just happen to have in the fridge.
