The Messier 4 star cluster appears to get skewered by what appears to be a passing satellite!
Taken from Lake of Two Rivers, Algonquin Park, Ontario.

It's not long now till the Land of the Bed Olympics. The residents have therefore, to varying extents, been practicing long and hard!
From an organisational basis, all that was left to do was finalise the list of events. Mrs PB was launching a last minute appeal to reinstate the ancient sport of skewering! Previously banned as result of a rather unfortunate incident involving a rabbit , as chair of the committee there was no way Mr Fox was going to approve such a dangerous sport.
Regrettably the rest of the committee were a little more fickle. The previous ruling overturned, he decided to head for higher ground!
At least no one would volunteer to be her target... would they?!
The seasoning on this meat was really delicious, and the bowl of hummus was the very best I have ever had. This was a restaurant I ate at twice, while we were in port, in Manama, Bahrain.
Caramelized Steak Skewers
1 lb beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
1/4 cup Kraft Balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing, divided
1/4 cup kraft BarBQ sauce
1 tsp dijon mustard
Toss steak with 2 tbsp of the dressing; let stand 10 minutes to marinate. Meanwhile, combine 2 tbsp dressing, the barbecue sauce and mustard, set aside.
Preheat barbecue to medium high heat. Thread steak onto 8 long soaked wooden or metal skewers.
Grill skewers 6 minutes or until steak is cooked through, turning after 3 minutes and brushing generously with the barbecue sauce mixture.
Decided to tryout some new recipes. Turned out ok but I plan to tweak it a little in terms of flavour if I ever cook it in the future.
Here I propped the speedlight at 2 o'clock, 4 feet away from the subject. I didn't really have to prop any white boards to reflect light as there was ample light all around the subject. It created quite a nice afternoon daylight to the photo. (I shot this in the evening at around 8pm indoors. Switched on all the lights in the room.)

30 Jan 2010 Singapore-Little India
Today was the celebration of Thaipusam, a Tamil-Indian Hindu religious festival, celebrating the day Lord Subramanian received a vel=spear from his mother Parvati. For this festival devotees carry offerings along a pilgrimage walk. Many of these offerings are the so-called vel kavadis , large decorated constructions carried on the shoulders and attached by sharp spears or chains on hooks to the body. Many devotees also pierce their forehead and sometimes cheeks and tongue. This festival is still celebrated in the South of India and in Singapore and Malaysia.
Some devotees pull their kavadis with hooks attached to their backs. And some have many many other piercings as well.
