spotted in Downtown Durham North Carolina

One of the few neon signs found in the very long Ocean City, MD. The only good thing about the gloomy sky was that I could see it was on.

Sea eel advertising.

The sign at the lodge where we rented the snowmobiles. It might have been meant for the restaurant/bar. Not sure.

========================

Now that I am done with 365 and free to roam around the archives I am finding a few signy shots , number of signy shots I got is surprising considering my aversion to photographing “things” , anyway I thought I’d let them loose

Pinted in 1915 for advertisement of a new apartment the sign is still on the same spot the building is now used by a travel agent

Happy to find some signs of spring despite the colder than average temps.

The parting message of this old marquee is lost to time. The faint outline of the Hard Rock Cafe letters show the last tenet of this now abandoned downtown Seattle building.

As a career sign guy, I couldn't resist the signs of Paris, where neon is much more common and contemporary than here in the States.

This out-shed had hundreds of vintage, collectible signs hanging from every inch of the wall. Old boilers where littered throughout this section also!

A frog walking through my garden is a sure sign of spring, right?

Saturday Self Challenge

I know it is probably a bit early for some of you, but I need springtime in my life so much! So the next challenge will be Signs of Spring

And I haven't forgotten about you who live in the Southern Hemisphere; show us Signs of Autumn.

This is the time of the year when weather can change rapidly, so hopefully you can spot something that tells you spring/autumn is around the corner by next Saturday! ;-

This challenge would have ideal two weeks ago when we had a week in February that was wonderful and very springlike. Sadly this week we’ve been bombarded with storm after storm, going outdoors has not been an option.

Stuck with what to do, I initially settled for a photo of a bunch of daffodils bought from the supermarket. This was going to be my image until I spotted (during a brief period between the heavy showers) that the trees on the opposite side of our valley are just starting to change colour and show some signs of growth.

Having failed on a another project, which was to capture a magpie building her nest, I decided to take a photo of the trees and blend them with the daffs to produce this. Both shots taken without stepping foot outside the house.

Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

There's not much going on in the garden at the moment - just lots of greenery! But this pieris is starting to show signs of new growth.

"The Many Faces of the Mysterious Mushroom" Exhibition Venue: INAX Gallery 1 & 2 Schedule: From 2009-06-04 To 2009-08-08 Address: INAX Ginza 2F, 3-6-18 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo/JAPAN

"A mushroom cannot be classified as either a plant or an animal. It is a fungus. There are 20,000 to 30,000 kinds of mushrooms which have scientific names, and in many cases, their biological nature is not fully understood. Because of their mysterious nature, mushrooms are used as a metaphorical reference in philosophy and in expressing one's worldview. This exhibition introduces you to the mysterious world of mushrooms."

キノコは植物でも動物でもない、菌類という微生物です。学名があるキノコだけで世界に2〜3万種もあり、科学的に解明されていないことも多いのです。人間界にも通じる哲学や世界観など、様々な表情と可能性を秘めたキノコ。
