The theaters are now very gone, though there is a descendent of them nearby. For some reason no one has ever knocked over the sign.
Saturday Self Challenge
I know it is probably a bit early for some of you, but I need springtime in my life so much! So the next challenge will be Signs of Spring
And I haven't forgotten about you who live in the Southern Hemisphere; show us Signs of Autumn.
This is the time of the year when weather can change rapidly, so hopefully you can spot something that tells you spring/autumn is around the corner by next Saturday! ;-
This challenge would have ideal two weeks ago when we had a week in February that was wonderful and very springlike. Sadly this week we’ve been bombarded with storm after storm, going outdoors has not been an option.
Stuck with what to do, I initially settled for a photo of a bunch of daffodils bought from the supermarket. This was going to be my image until I spotted (during a brief period between the heavy showers) that the trees on the opposite side of our valley are just starting to change colour and show some signs of growth.
Having failed on a another project, which was to capture a magpie building her nest, I decided to take a photo of the trees and blend them with the daffs to produce this. Both shots taken without stepping foot outside the house.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
There's not much going on in the garden at the moment - just lots of greenery! But this pieris is starting to show signs of new growth.
A close-up of new hawthorn (Crataegus genus) leaf buds unfurling. Even with a broken tip nearby, life finds a way to thrive! This "bud burst" is a powerful visual reminder of the changing seasons and the continuation of the natural life cycle.

"The Many Faces of the Mysterious Mushroom" Exhibition Venue: INAX Gallery 1 & 2 Schedule: From 2009-06-04 To 2009-08-08 Address: INAX Ginza 2F, 3-6-18 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo/JAPAN
"A mushroom cannot be classified as either a plant or an animal. It is a fungus. There are 20,000 to 30,000 kinds of mushrooms which have scientific names, and in many cases, their biological nature is not fully understood. Because of their mysterious nature, mushrooms are used as a metaphorical reference in philosophy and in expressing one's worldview. This exhibition introduces you to the mysterious world of mushrooms."

Motel Sign along Central Ave in Albuquerque. It was recently repainted back to its original color scheme. The previous version was all orange -this looks much better.
Eye-catching sign. Was the lettering painted that way on purpose or did the painter have an off day when he did the job?
Looking more like a historic site from some ancient culture, a long-abandoned section house stands with relics of codeline as a Bolivian-bound barrel train leans into the curve. The rail hugs the middle of the mountainside, and the peaks cast shadows as the light becomes inversely better.
On certain parts of mountains in the world, you are close enough to heaven that if you look hard enough you will see signs of Eden, this waahila ridge trail on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii 11/14/16
EXPLORE Front Page (#5) on April 24, 2007. Thank you all! ;)
Not only old wooden doors can be beautiful. Some urban artist liked this decayed metal one so much that even decided to sign it ;)
Please see it LARGE to better appreciate all the details.
