This is the person to talk to about all the gossip around Goondiwindi as we head east before turning to the north of the state. No question here about another important crop in the Goondiwindi area. The friendly magpie in the main street is watching its fiefdom as the afternoon sun warms this fairly important country town. It sits on the Macintyre River which forms the Queensland Border with New South Wales. With the border locked down because of COVID restrictions, nobody is getting through the police line without the correct documentation and passes.
On day four of my train journey across Canada by VIA rail. October 2018. We are seeing lots of snow now.
The window are not very clean so the photos are not that good. Also the train was speeding along at times and really bumpy. I have put all the photos I took on my journey on Flickr as a record of my trip.
I saw this attractive welcome sign on the pier in Willemstad, Curacao.
It was nice having the lady there.
A bit of history –
The old sign for the Agua Caliente Racetrack in Tijuana on the back of the California Theatre in downtown San Diego. I can remember the sign there from the 60’s. The racetrack hosted both horse and greyhound racing from 1929 until 1992, ceasing horse racing but continuing with greyhound races until 2024.
California Theatre opened in 1927 and became a movie theatre in 1936. In 1976 it closed as a movie theatre and returned to live theatre. The theatre was closed in 1990. Various plans were proposed to renovate the theatre, but none came to fruition. In 2017 a demolition permit was granted, yet the building still stands.

I like the ranch sign. But I think the farm implement in front adds clutter. If it was off to the side there would be a better view of the details in the ranch sign.

Well it's finally going to happen. The weatherman says we are going to get hit with "the BIG ONE"!
Time to sit back and watch the insanity ensue as folks rush off to the grocery store and wipe out the shelves in anticipation of this event.
People around here really do go crazy when they predict snow. I'll bet the folks that live in places like Michigan or upstate New York just laugh at us.
Sigh! I guess I better go get that loaf of bread!
Larry left me this sign on the kitchen counter this a.m.
A repairman working on the marquee for what was once the State Theatre - on State Street the Uptown district of Westerville, OH. The State Theatre opened as a movie house in 1927. It screened films until it closed sometime in the 1970s. It was vacant for years until becoming in turns a furniture store, a consignment shop, and a couple different restaurants, including the current "Barrel & Boar BBQ Gastropub". The marquee is original, restored a few years ago (the "8" was added) and being maintained by the current occupants.
There is no direction for Hawaiki - spirits, find your way.

I personally don't know if this is a beer or an ale, but I do know it's a very cool sign. I shot it behind the bar at the Hare and Hound Pub in Landrum, SC
The oxen-and-wagon symbol is the official state highway symbol of Nebraska.
I thought the route signs were attractive with the covered wagon at the bottom.
