Shells as far as the eye can see in the shelling capital of the world, Sanibel Island, Florida.

Built and opened in 1996

Didn't get any photos of the gas station, but I took this to show how Shell reused the frame of Burger King's old sign for themselves. Thrifty!

Reads Berndorf, 1914. Berndorf was a metal manufacturer in Austria that began manufacturing Shells at the beginning of the war for arms maker Krupp.

Looking for shells as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico in Tarpon Springs Florida. It had been a rainy, overcast day, so it was nice that the sky opened up for a beautiful sunset.

This is part of the old Shell Haven Oil Refinery, soon to be a port complex. The last remaining process unit (Bitumen) has been demolished.

A smaller shell under a larger one that partially broke away to expose the smaller one. Probably somewhere around 100 million years old from back when Central Texas was under a shallow ocean for many millions of years. Found in a limestone layer at the bottom of McNutt Creek near the Paloma Lake Boulevard bridge. This creek has cut through a deep layer of Blackland Prairie soil to expose the limestone bedrock which forms the base of the creek.

Discovered in 1835, Margate's Shell Grotto is an astonishing find; 21 metres of winding passages decorated with 4.6 million shells. The walls are covered in images of gods and goddesses, trees of life and patterns of whelks, mussels and oysters. Some think it is an ancient Pagan grotto, others that it is simply an ornate Regency folly; but with no definitive explanation or history, the Shell Grotto is Kent's greatest mystery.

River Stour Essex

Different Sunday, same cast of characters separating tourists from their money along The Embarcadero. This guy and a couple of accomplices are in this spot regularly.
