Lobster Rolls, Blueberry Slab Pie and Maine Obsessing on smittenkitchen.com
I had a mini-heart attack when Alex came home from The Lobster Place with two pounds of what is supposed to be the best lobster meat you can get around here, cooked and cracked fresh that morning, to find only four tiny containers (maybe half-pint size?) in the bag. This was one of them. Thank goodness as I chopped these packed-together tails and claws, the tiniest volume became about six cups, or a nice big bowl of chunks and, astoundingly, more lobster salad than we could fit in the 64 (okay, 63, I ate one) buns I'd made.

Aug. 4, 2009 — The cleansed clams are rinsed and put on a conveyer that drops them into bags for shipping. The gap in the rollers allows small or broken clams to fall into a waste container. The state inspector (center) shows the plant’s meticulous records to the FDA shellfish specialist (left) and the manager of New Jersey’s Food and Drug Safety Program. With these detailed records, any illness from the shellfish can be traced back to the plant and the harvest area so that prompt actions can be taken to prevent further illnesses.

I swear, I spent like 30 minutes chopping this. I was babying it. It all seemed so precious, I couldn't bear to lose or simple shred a scrap. I should get out more.
Here's one from the weekend 12/17/11 from Alki Beach. The sun was hitting the area very nicely.
Here's a direct link to the video of this weekend outing on my website if you are interested in viewing it.
Different perspective on the same pile of oysters. Taken by crouching down in the tide pool and holding my camera just above the water. Daring, I know. Probably shouldn't take too many risks like that - seeing as how it isn't really my camera...

I have no idea what this is, except that it came out of a shell. I do know, however, that it was still moving when I ate it.
