In 1993 I sent a fax (a fax!) to Shellac asking them to play in my parents' living room. A few months later Bob Weston called out of the blue to tell me what date they would be performing.
After having been curious for a while about shellacked cloth handlebar tape, I've finally gotten around to trying it on my orange Gunnar. With three coats of white shellac, the color of the orange Newbaum tape matches really well!

still going strong (this pic was day 4, now entering day 7.)
$22 at honey spa in greenpoint (vs $45++ in the city)
I applied a shellac finish to this clock in the Spring of 2006. On July 9, 2009 I sanded the finish with no. 400 wet/dry sandpaper plus mineral oil mounted on a rubber sanding block, then buffed with no. 0000 extra-fine steel wool, followed by Turtlewax white automotive polishing compound, then finally applied Johnson's paste wax. Notice that the finish is much smoother and even than photos taken of the same clock in 2006.

This is a mixed media encaustic piece. The base is a TTV picture of mine attached to a cradled birch board. There is wood icing applied with a stencil along the side. I added some color to match the photo to the wood icing using pearl-ex pigments. It is 6" by 6".
