Shellac has a unique manufacturing process. It's derived from a resin secreted by insects native to forests in Thailand and India. The secretion is scraped from the bark of trees and then processed to form small, light-brown, or orange flakes. The flakes are mixed with alcohol to create a finish.

From near the very end of their set, where like in the Simpson's opening credits a spoof variation occurs. Steve and Bob had already removed the bass drum and cymbols and are about to remove the snare and stool. Todd was left standing without a kit to hit, placed his drumsticks in his pockets and was then turned upside down and carried off stage.

With the live set disassembled, they already had the last word on whether there'd be an encore.

Velox blue bar tape after a few coats of blonde shellac. Shellac seems less common on a "velo de course" but, I like the feel and added weather resistance...in addition to the darkened colour.

Shellac compound is one of the first natural plastics to be industrial molded. Long before the invention of Bakelite and other modern plastics.

I like the textures of this in black and white on the wall.

This was done during a Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch workshop. The base is spackle applied through a stencil onto a wood board and then the dried spackle was burned along with the board to get the dark brown color. It is 8" by 10".

The first time I've ever attempted to shellac over Tressorex tape. I dyed some string a sort of dark grey, thought it would go black. It turned out ok but still to give the bars another couple of coats. Nitto NJS Jaguar steel bars and stem on this wee track frame. Shimano 600 headset and Velox handlebar plugs.
