Bought a big pile of old 78's from the boot sale today. Lots of Harry Bidgood and a couple of novelty songs that I will slowly add to the audio blog.

I applied a shellac finish to this clock in the Spring of 2006. On July 9, 2009 I sanded the finish with no. 400 wet/dry sandpaper plus mineral oil mounted on a rubber sanding block, then buffed with no. 0000 extra-fine steel wool, followed by Turtlewax white automotive polishing compound, then finally applied Johnson's paste wax. Notice that the finish is much smoother and even than photos taken of the same clock in 2006.

I pretty well mainly listen to Shellac when it's dark, grey, cold and winter time. This song is pretty brutal. I wanted it to look like an old fashioned murder scene so the red paint is supposed to represent blood topped off with sewing scissors to the heart. Ouch.
