Verdammt. Der Lack ist ab.

Well, I crossed my fingers just to be sure. The paint is actually a little off (the bloom is off the rose) – it comes that way with age. But maybe it will bring some luck by crossing your fingers. And this will prevent a bit of decay ;-) I don't really care about the nails – but I swear I'll be overworking them soon ... without crossed fingers ;-)

Crossing one's fingers is a hand gesture used to superstitiously wish one another good luck or to cancel a promise or oath. In the Anglo-Saxon region, this gesture is also used to superstitiously wish one another luck, while the pressed thumb that are common in German-speaking countries are less well known there. The “crossed fingers” gesture is used on the United Kingdom's National Lottery logo and the United States' Oregon and Virginia Lotteries. / Wikipedia

Wikipedia

Ingredients: two fingers (my middle and index finger), daylight (the last rays of autumn sunshine), checkered paper box (notepad as contents) – and of course nail polish – nicely scratched, chipped and grown out, not suitable for a neat and tidy night out ;-)

Day 170/365:

An iPhone shot of these coreopsis in a garden centre. They really caught my eye. No, I hadn't heard of coreopsis before either ;)

In spite of everything, Spring is still beautiful.

My grandson loves a babyccino...for the uninitiated that's frothy milk posing as a cappuccino. After a hard day's work helping Pops in the garden and then making gingerbread men with Nanny, the little man had earned his babyccino. HMBT

The weather is dreadful today so another still life...now I'm getting back in the swing of things. A bit thrown together but day three done and dusted.

For Smile on Saturday - The word Smile

Some letters from my craft stash here, resting on a vintage book, to make the word Smile.

Taken using my Velvet 56 and the OMNI set my husband bought me for Christmas. I need to practise with it but hoping it might help my mojo return. The object in the background is my vintage camera.

HSoS and hoping you all found something to smile about during this strangest of Christmasses.

On every blooming tree,

And spreads her sheets o'daisies white

Out o'er the grassy lea."

It's the 'diva' among my lenses with sometimes very erratic bokeh and lens flares / ghosting. But just when I was rather looking for lens flares yesterday (see our next theme on Crazy Tuesday) this diva couldn't be bothered to play up (might have been the conditions that day with Saharan dust in the air) ; ))

I love the bright green spring foliage, even without lens flares, lol !

💚 take care !

Day 140/365:

Allium again. I have four self seeded allium in the back garden. This is a three image in camera multiple exposure using the 70-200 lens with an Omni wand. I then took it into NIK and played with the double exposure presets there to add some more blur. Finally I added a couple of textures (my own). Silk purse, sow's ear springs to mind but I have so much on at the moment plus not feeling great and have a stye on my eye to top things off!

About as shot in evening light. Shade on the mourning dove as it perches on the stick we stuck there some six or seven years ago. Back forty or back yard...1000mm, f8, a moment. Love to hear their mournful coo.

Specular highlights from evening sun shining on brandywine maple leaves.

Someone (who will know who I mean) was asking for a slice of cake - so here you are 🍰

Display of a confectioner around the corner.

I'm not used to much sugar anymore and I'd probably get pretty sick if I ate a piece of this fancy cake, but it really looked soooo beautiful and inviting with those roses and macarons ...

So I was admiring it at least with my camera ; ))

Wishing you a happy (Whit) weekend

I will catch up later - busy eating cake right now, lol : ))

Just kicking back and taking it easy.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

Smile on Saturday - Beads & Pearls

This is a bead bracelet that I bought from the Chelsea Flower Show in May. Happy memories of a wonderful day.

I also took a photo of pearls but wasn't too keen on it and preferred the simplicity of this one. HSoS

I believe this is Scolia dubia.

#33 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

Our daffodils in the garden have almost finished so I bought a bunch to brighten the house...who am I kidding? I bought them as a photo prop but they brighten the house too :)

Here they are peeking out from a drawer.

P.S. Thank you so much, everyone, for your visits and comments.

Day 352/365:

This is not the sharpest or the best image but I didn't have much time today. We took our grandson out to The Magic of Christmas to choose a Christmas tree. We also let him choose some baubles...unfortunately he didn't choose tasteful ones like these ;) They may be my props on other days.

Day 189/365:

Not overly pleased with the composition of this. I was going for an off centre look but in retrospect I think central would have been better. I didn't want to spend too much time on it because of my back. I've been to the osteopath and it's starting to improve but a way to go yet. Thank you for all your kind wishes, it means a lot.

Lensbaby Velvet 56. Added textures (my own)

Day 21/365:

This is a bit of a thrown together 'that'll do' image. I didn't have much time so put up a pink backdrop with the cup and rosebuds in mind but couldn't think beyond that so just grabbed the cage and put some vintage cotton spools in. Hence the title. I added a texture (my own).

I may not have much time for Flickr over the next few days or so. I will post my daily pic but may not be able to comment much. I will do my best though.

Remind me why I'm doing a 365 ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you all for your kind comments & faves.

These eager weeds make their home in every yard on my street. And, while they are pretty, they become thugs by claiming more and more space needed by other plants. Often called "creeping bellflower", many horticulturalists advise people to not intentionally plant them.

Seldom found near still water ponds and more likely to be found near slow running water such as streams and creeks.

Burrard Dry Dock Pier, North Vancouver. September 9, 2016.

This is one of the possibilities for the Macro Mondays theme of “my closest”. Am using a clip-on lens on my iPhone’s camera lens. Up this close, with the slider full on, it’s really hard to get both of them in focus so I opted for the ribbon’s texture. The tick marks on the ruler in the background are millimeters!!!

ANSH scavenger12 shallow depth of field

Which is why we took fun walks and I fooled around with the only lens I brought on the July closing trip. Best viewed larger, if you, too, feel like fooling around.
