It was a hot day and in the process of making friends with Molly, the farm dog, we played fetch until we were both tired. When I asked the farmer if it was okay if I went out back to take a picture of his barn he said "If it's okay with Molly it's okay with me." After taking a few shots, Molly and I both sat down in the shade of this Locust tree and had a nice drink of water. One has to pick a spot carefully under a Locust tree as there are always a lot of small spiky twigs waiting to surprise you. You don't go barefoot around a Lucust tree.
The current owner is fairly new to the area and was unsure of the age of the barn. The county road crew that directed me to it was certain it was over 100 years old.

An old, run-down city in the heart of Outlaw territory, the Shade was not a place for the faint of heart. There was no law, no order, no peace or safety. It was overshadowed by the Queen's castle, high on the rocks above it. The lowest of the low lived down by the swamp where disease outbreaks were constant. The only people living there were the meanest, most vile creatures to be found anywhere in Roawia. Except maybe in Loreos. The Shade was the unofficial Outlaw capital.

Richard had surgery for a ruptured Achilles' tendon one week ago...and we've been spending time getting used to him having his leg up 90% of the time and no weight bearing. I'll let you imagine how he gets upstairs at night time:)
Takes 9-12 months for a full recovery if all goes well.
I have peeked into flickr from time to time but not much time for comments or groups.....that will be changing as we are getting into a routine. I miss seeing your postings and my favorite groups.
Life has been nuts the past few weeks. Little time for editing and uploading photos!

Not sure what these flowers are. They look like Vinca or periwinkle, but those are vines. These are on tall stalks.
Nice shade garden color. Also in the photo are hosta, hellebores and volunteer violets.
Later, I'll post a photo I took of them in late evening light. It's interesting to see what a difference the light makes.
