I have learned "shade" is more than a shadow.

These flowers only bloom for one day then close up and fall off the cactus.

Taken on a early bright Autumn morning,amongst of the shade of the trees,with the backdrop of the rising mist of the lake.

Stourhead landscape gardens, a National Trust Property.

Light and shade, Finland.

 

Cold and sunny winter day in a bog. There were lots of tracks of different animals but only some birds were visible.

 

It's not necessary easy to photograph a beautiful winter landscape as snow has swallowed all the colours and details. Here the setting sun provided some contrast with light and shadows.
