Setup for Toronto Taste started Saturday evening. It continued all through the night, with Chefs and their teams starting to arrinve around noon. Everything was finally wrapped up by about 5:30pm Sunday, when, mysteriously the fire alarm went off and we all got locked into the ROM.
But the Toronto Fire Department camed and has us up and running just in time to open the doors for the VIPs. Wow!
Disclosure: I'm on the steering committee so while I get an insider's view, I'm also biased.
Wow, this place is really good!
The setup is like you'd expect to see in a mall, or at a Panda Express. You order how many entrees you'd like and it'll come with one side. I had both the Orange Chicken and Fruit Punch Chicken with a side of fried rice and a soda.. a little over $7.
Oh, wondering what Fruit Punch Chicken is? Me too, but it's darn tasty! Best I can tell it's Orange Chicken but made with a mixture of fruit coctail instead of the orange sauce. Very sweet and surprisingly good.
The place wasn't crowded at all, for most of the time we ate we were the only people there. If you want to give this place a try do it soon, they could use the business. Highly recommended!

This was a pretty interesting shoot. It was about like I imagined though, a car is just a giant mirrored product shot. Watch your angles and reflections really closely and you're guaranteed to get something usable.
Home Office/Setup Evolution.
I have been working from home now for over a year and needs/requirements have changed. Like many other people, I was made redundant in 2020. I was lucky to find another job fairly quickly hence the update.
Mac Mini 2020 (2018) for personal use, connected to a eGPU to drive the triple screen setup.
Dell Latitude connected to a Dell D6000 dock driving the displays, LAN and other peripherals for work use.
Some of the kit has been supplied by my employer.

Here is my ghetto setup for the last few shots i did. im stuck in a tiny dorm in korea and i dont have many resources, so i gotta get inventive:
Canon 5dmkii w/ 100mm f/2.8 macro lens
cardboard box robot i built
crumpled tinfoil behind, with a propped up iphone displaying a bright red picture.
LED flashlight going through my external flash's diffuser to give the robot a smidgeon of light.
Strobist:
On the left... SB 24 clamped to boom arm stand. Firing partially into the umbrella to get a bit more light on the front, and partially into the ceiling.
SB 28 on boom arm, shooting out into the ceiling to create a large continuous swath of light. Rotated horizontally, and zoomed out all the way.
On the right... another SB 24 on a stand... partially hitting the ceiling, partially hitting the umbrella to help light up the back of the car. Used distance (umbrella to car) angle (how much hits the umbrella) and zoom to control how much of that light hit the ceiling to light up the top of the car, vs how much light was reflected to the back of the car.
Behind the car was an SB 28, with a blue filter on it, hitting the wall.

Looks like a VCR? Actually its a mod...inside is three 2.5" drives. Two are 30GB, one is 10GB. Also, one 3.5" 40GB drive. All are connected to a 4 port USB hub, also inside. Finally for the mod, two fans, and a re-enforced top to hold the weight of the LCD.
