I was pleased to intercept this, as we had climbed from Clapham village to the top of Ingleborough, and I wasn't convinced we would have descended in time!
From my neighbor's yard so colorful this time of year.
Yesterday we did a bit of bird watching and we saw cedar waxwings, eagle, osprey, kingfisher, herons, sandpipers, sparrows, cormorants, pigeons, starlings, Phoebe, eiders, and a catbird! Wishing my bird friends were here:)

Closing out this mini-series of L516 doing some night work at New Richmond is this view with the conductor reporting on the radio after the moves have been made, all the switches restored, and the train put back together. I've been photographing SD60s about as long as I've been photographing railroads, they look great by day but also cut a fine profile at night. February 1, 2022.

On a damp and gloomy morning, 'Merchant Navy' Class Pacific No. 35018 'British India Line' powers up the incline from Settle Jct. with the 1Z30 York-Carlisle, 4.8.20.
The Settle–Carlisle line is a 73-mile-long main railway line in northern England. The route, which crosses the remote, scenic regions of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines, runs between Settle Junction, on the Leeds to Morecambe line, and Carlisle, near the English-Scottish borders

A shot from our trip to Cornwall last March , a sunset over Porthmeor beach using the Lee little stopper .
During an extremely brief spell of sunshine, all too rare on Thursday 5th June 2014, two Northern Rail class 158 units, with 158 908 leading, form the 2H93 14:04 Carlisle to Leeds service at Settle Junction. This shot was taken along the Lincolnshire coast early in the summer which meant being on the beach for five. It was worth chasing the light just to see the sunrise and capture a little movement in the foreground.
A brief burst of sun on one of the lower "shelves" at Scaleber Force, near Settle. The last I've chosen to post, from that first visit on my holiday. (More to follow from other visits.)
