After drying off, the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet lowered his crest to give a more typical portrait. Check out those cool orange feet-- I've never spotted those before! Glendale, Missouri

The goldfinches were quickly moving from plant to plant, working through this section quickly. Evidently, this one had to swoop in where another was already perched, to make sure that this was fully harvested!

Of the 30 or more birds roosting in a tree on the far bank, only one White Ibis decided to come down to the water to feed. Happily, it picked a spot just a few feet from where I was floating on Horsepen Bayou, as though it thought I knew where the best worms and such were hiding.

This Great Blue Heron is the same one I posted in flight a few days ago, just as it landed. At Jackson Bottom Wetlands in Hillsboro, Oregon.

I arrived at Dalkeith waterhole well before sunrise in the Kalahari Semi Desert. Total silence for 10 minutes when I saw a lioness approaching from afar along the road ..Great she must be coming to drink..Not so she lay down in the road 50 metres away ..Suddenly her 2 until then unsighted cubs emerged from the long grass after unseasonal rains and arrived at the drinking place right next to me. I let them settle and only then took only 5 images so as not to frighten them ..10 minutes before actual sunrise over the Sand Dune
