A wet and miserable day,I didn't turn out for the northbound but when the rain stopped at home I decided to have a go with the return and try something different

The signs were becoming ominous we would not get this, 20107 appeared to have left Appleby on time but did not record anywhere beyond so a failure was on the cards.
It takes a lot for a English Electric class 20 to fail and sure enough the peg came off as it recorded 16L at Blea Moor.
Glad to get this as I had a dud here in the afternoon!

An Old Farm House - Near Olds, Alberta
I've been getting our house ready for the cold. It's 71 years old. The house pictured is older. I drove by it recently on the way back to Edmonton, stopped and took this photo (from the road). These farm buildings must ruminate on their memories like old people...
IMG 8098
I spent an evening and night taking care of my Mom and when I was about to leave the house to head over, I heard Benedict, aka Bene.
"Mum? Uh . . . Mama? Are you leaving?"
"It's okay, Bene, darling! I am going to take care of my Mom for the night."
"May I come along? Please? I don't think I have been there yet."
"Oh, yes, Bene! It would be great to have you along! And my Mom is a great teddy bear grandmom!"
"I love love that very much, Mum . . . uh, Mama! I will sit quietly and read and if I had a spot of tea, it might feel just like England! Well, except that it was sunny and hot here still!" Bene giggled.
"That would be very nice, Bene! We will see what we can do! Thank you for coming with me!"
Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!
(Benedict is a Merrythought bear, made in England, created as a commemorative for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee! We are very happy to have him as part of our bear family!)

It's easy to understand why this fabulous waterfall gets photographed so much, so many smaller falls with the main falls in full view. I couldn't resist nipping over to Settle on such a cold overcast day for this shot. Incidentally did anybody else notice the resident Dipper? (not in shot)

Funny how timing works. We'd just been chasing the NS D41 from Mansfield to Bement and rolling along the Lafayette towards home when suddenly, boom! ATCS notification - green signal at Gibson City. Right, now for a race... that we are very out of position for.
I'll save you the long of it - we did not make it to Osman nor Goembel. The elevation changes in rural Illinois are greater than you'd think, to the point that NS D36s headlight was visible in the Osman community itself as we took the turn down the road through Blue Ridge. So, no signal photo.
Previously, I'd passed on shooting Blue Ridge because of all the guy wires in the way. This time, I finally settled for trying it for once. In all honesty, it wasn't bad at all. Anyways, I'm not too broken up over it - it was just another god damn SD60E. 7014 and 6975 are the dynamic duo who will not leave. Please go.

Like the monkey in my previous upload, these Ring-Tailed Lemurs are walking free through the park too. Throughout the day they walk through the trees, but late in the afternoon they gather on the fields and form family groups. It was so nice to see all these families settling in for the night and socialize, like this mother who took some time to feed the youngsters.
After a moderate snowfall, the landscape is completely refreshed. Snow covers most things such as trees and hills, mostly on branches and on the side of the trunk that faced the wind. On these shrubs the snow settles into the crooks, waiting for a thaw, or more snow.

A challenging morning, chasing the tide out for a good composition amongst the rocks. I ended up going for a wider view of this piece of Pembrokeshire coast.

This is the village of Bsharri on the shoulder of the valley of Kadisha.
Kadisha Valley:
In 1998, UNESCO added the valley to the list of World Heritage Sites because of its importance as the site of some of the earliest Christian monastic settlements in the world, and its continued example of early Christian faith.
The valley is a deep gorge carved by the Kadisha River. Kadisha means "Holy" in Aramaic, and the valley, sometimes called the Holy Valley, has sheltered Christian monastic communities for many centuries.
The sides of the valley are steep cliffs that contain many caves, often at more than 1000m and all difficult of access. The most scenic section of the valley stretches for approximately twenty kilometers between Bsharri, the hometown of Gibran Khalil Gibran, and Tourza. It is here also that the Holy River, Nahr Qadisha, flows, its source being in a sacred mountain celebrated in the Scriptures.
The Qadisha Valley’s many natural caves have been used as shelters and for burials back as far as the Palaeolithic period. The Aassi Hauqqa (cave) in particular, near Hawqa, Lebanon, has yielded archaeological items indicating Palaeolithic, Roman, and medieval periods of use.
