Bacio is an elegant trattoria serving authentic Italian fare.

For appetizers, try the crispy calamari, a steaming bowl of meatball and vegetable soup or scallops with arugula, baby heirloom tomatoes and citrus acqua pazza.

For a light and refreshing treat, try the Bacio salad, a mixture of iceberg and romaine, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers and gorgonzola topped with whole grain mustard vinaigrette.

The Cernia is a pan roasted grouper served with fingerling potatoes and rosemary. This dish will fill you up without weighing you down. Best of all, the fresh fish is perfectly cooked, tender and well-seasoned.

There are also traditional favorites like the rigatoni (beef, veal, pork and tomato sauce), parmigiana (breaded and pan-fried chicken breast with marinara sauce and fresh mozzarella), Milanese (breaded and fried veal chop with arugula, lemon, tomato and extra virgin olive oil) and risotto with fresh shrimp.

There were no small portions.

The lamb vendor is emptying a crock of slow-cooked lamb for us to sample. The crocks are embedded in ashes for hours. I believe the pointed finger is that of our wonderful Insight Tour guide, Hassan. I suspect Hassan felt as I did and would have preferred to eat in the marketplace, but a tour of 40 means supplying one size fits all and that meant we did not experience the great food Morocco is known for. We left the marker place and went on to a restaurant where the "lamb" dish was probably 100 year-old mutton. The smell of cooked sheep was overpowering. Fortunately, there were other choices.

This was one of our first trips outside of Vancouver after the lock downs in British Columbia in March and April 2020. We spent a June weekend in Whistler, BC, Canada. We stopped at one of our favourite places--the Mallard Bar at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Hotel.

We observed several changes. Everyone was wearing a mask. Plexiglass had been put up in the Mallard Bar, Check In, and Reception. There were no physical meds--you had to scan a QR code which then gave you the menu.

Here our server wears a mask.

This is just one of the few buildings open to the public in Bodie.

most of my inside shots were taken with my nikon d60 using my Tokina 12-24mm lens.

Bodie, an original ghost town from the late 1800's, stands today in a state of "arrested decay". So coined by the State of California when they took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park.

In 1859 William (a.k.a. Waterman) S. Bodey discovered gold near what is now called Bodie Bluff. A mill was established in 1861 and the town began to grow. It started with about 20 miners and grew to an estimated 10,000 people by 1880! By that time, the town of Bodie bustled with families, robbers, miners, store owners, gunfighters and prostitutes of all kinds. At one time there was reported to be 65 saloons in town. Amongst the saloons were numerous brothels and 'houses of ill repute', gambling halls and opium dens. Needless to say that there was entertainment for every taste.

After a long day working the claims, the miners would head for the bars and the red light district to spend their earnings. The mixture of money, gold and alcohol would often prove fatal. It is said that there was a man killed every day in Bodie. Presumably, the undertaker never had a slow day.

There are records that say that Wm. Body took a ship from New York, around the horn to end up in San Francisco. The name of the town was changed at some point in time, before the majority of the people made their way to Bodie. There are different stories as to why - one says it was to keep the correct pronunciation of town's namesake. Another says that the sign painter didn't have the room for the tail of the lower-case "y". Today, even though Bodie is lost down a dusty 13 mile long road, off of state highway 395, it is amazing just how many people are aware of this once glorious town.

There's a story about a little girl whose family moved from San Francisco to Bodie. Depending on who tells you, or where you read it, she wrote either: "Good, by God, I'm going to Bodie" or "Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie".

Bodie is a ghost town in the Eastern Sierras, a draw to millions of people, and a photographer's dream!

The Foshay Tower, now serving as the W Minneapolis - The Foshay, is a skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Modeled after the Washington Monument, the building was completed in 1929 in the months before the stock market crash in October of that year. It has 32 floors and stands 447 feet (136m) high, plus an antenna mast that extends the total height of the structure to 607 feet (185m). The building, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, is an example of Art Deco architecture. Its address is 821 Marquette Avenue, although it is set well back from the street and is actually closer to 9th Street than Marquette.

The renovated W Minneapolis - The Foshay opened on August 13, 2008. The hotel retains the 30th floor observation deck and converted Wilbur Foshay's former boardroom on the 27th floor into the Prohibition sky bar.

Dearest Uzuki,

The Allies invasion on Kyūshū, or Operation Olympic, is taking its toll, We were ambushed in a failed attempt to wipe out our bunker, A trigger happy corporal immediately pulled out his Thompson and hit Lieutenant Toyoda instead... Our MG gunner was happy for his fatal mistake and shot him in his arm, then Private Shiden shot him in the head with his Nambu, the other 2 eventually surrended, coming out of hotel recently bombed by enemy B-29s.

This image of Smith appears within a collage showing the 1892 graduating class of Rush Medical College (Chicago, Illinois). By 1893, Smith had returned to his hometown of Shreveport and was serving the Black community. Based on the 1894 Shreveport Times Directory, he and J. B. Maclin were perhaps the town’s only Black physicians.

www.1001pallets.com/2017/02/quick-easy-useful-forklift-ar...

Use the natural characteristics of pallets to your advantage and make a Forklift Arch Pallet Tray! You'll only need about an hour, and you won't spend a dime! Can't beat that at all! :) I've been short on time lately but really wanted to get out to the shop and build something. My wife had wanted a pallet tray for the table so I decided that would be a perfect, quick project to do.

Forklift Arch Pallet Tray:

I used a pallet stringer as the handles, taking advantage of the built-in curves as handles. I attached deck boards using a 16-gauge finish nailer and 1.25" nails. First, break down a pallet and pick out some of the better boards. Next, either sand them or plane them to your liking. Cut a stringer board at both of the forklift arch points, cutting them to the width you desire. Next, Cut a deck board into two pieces and cut to the length you wish. Attach the two lengths and butt-join them to the ends of the stringer boards, with the arches facing down. Finally, add deck boards to the bottom of the tray after trimming to width. Secure with nails (as described above) or pre-drill and countersink screws.

Bangladeshi engineers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan were awarded the UN Medal for their service and sacrifice. The 260-strong engineering contingent were the first to be deployed as part of the Regional Protection Force, mandated by the UN Security Council. In the past year, they have carried out a number of major reconstruction projects over the past year, rehabilitating roads, building bases, servicing water points and even repairing football grounds for young sports fans in Juba. At a ceremony in the capital Juba today, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General acknowledged their professionalism, integrity and dedication to duty. The contingent also remembered the tragic loss of their fellow fallen peacekeeper Lieutenant Commander Ashraf Siddiqui who was killed by armed gunmen while accompanying a humanitarian convoy in June.
