Got a new softbox, Westcott Apollo 28x28, also bought the 40 degree Grid. Set it up tonight and took some hand held self portraits, to test things out. Most of these were shot with manual setting via YN-622C, at either 1/8th power or 1/4 power, focal length set to auto

So do I have the makings of a male model? Didn't think so.
This outfit consists of:
Blue polo shirt by Izod from J.C. Pennys.
Horribly wrinkled cargo pants from Old Navy.
Navy blue suspenders from WalMart.
Cheap sandals from the local 100 yen shop. (I forgot to put on my shoes for the photo shoot. If I'd had them on, they would have been brown Ecco Oxfords from Macys.)
I don't like the pants, but it's been two years since I've been to the States and I don't do clothes shopping in Japan, so these are one of the two remaining pairs of pants in my wardrobe and need to last until July. My approach to clothes shopping is to get it out of the way as quickly as possible. If at all possible, I try to squeeze buying all the clothes I'll need for the next year into one frantic day of shopping in Stockton and/or Modesto.

I had a good day. I went to the Apple Store today for a workshop on iPhone basics. I'm going there tomorrow for advanced iPhone basics and how to take better photos with your iPhone.

I worked a half day today. It was nice getting out early. I'm visiting my family this weekend.
Me circa 1965. Firestone phonograph. I was most likely listening to Ricky Nelson or Elvis or Lloyd Price or Nat King Cole.
last night i drank a huge cup of coffee and after that i was up until 4. extremely annoying. and today i had a math test. i think it went well. (just so you know, you HAVE to write this down, in case you forget it) (ha-ha)
pleeeeaaaseee, click on all sizes, you can't look at it when it is this small.
School report night for the youngest and a really glowing report about her progress (although I'm sure all parents get glowing reports when they're this age) and how she was adapting well to life in her new classroom.
Good chat with her teacher about the chaos that is unfolding with the revised key stages, but comfortable with some of the mathematical teaching approaches as they make solid sense.
Whilst we waited I saw this self portrait that my daughter had drawn pinned up outside her classroom and thought it would make a lovely 365 photograph to put in the book at the end of the year for something for her to look back on when she's much much older.
Nenek's first cicit in the family. She really know to be friend with camera. Love to smile. Anak saudara Soraya..hahahaha.

I'm back home now. What a wonderful week I had with my family. I can't wait until next year!
View On Black and Large is a MUST (!)
Decided I need a new selfpotrait. I wanted to create something fresh and "Pow Wow!" but finally it came out moody, shadow-y and so on. But I'm ok with that. I can live with it for a while. Actually I think it describes my nature. I'm very energetic, vigorous, almost hot-headed but there's always the other side of my character which tells me to think and plan (but not stop, just do what you need to do but don't let you kill yourself ).
