Das letzte dann, irgendwie fad auf die Dauer, das alte Zeug ...
Fortezo in Catechol/Meritol + selenium/Polysulphid/Nelson's gold toner
This is a lith printed image at the "other" herring factory near Djupovik. I decided to get some of the "new" fomatone and try to duplicate the old fomatone. I developed in Moresch and did an afterbath of ammonium carbonate (Moersch's omega additive) plus heavy selenium and that is about as close as I got...still missing the very cold shadows I loved. Contrary to what I've heard on the web, though, this stuff does lith....not nearly as convincingly or with as much color, though. Sorry about the lousy scan....my scanner doesn't like Fomatone Velvet paper!

The branch again, just as technical reference.
The same procedure as with the previous print, but exposed one minute longer (8 instead 7) because the iron toner brightens up the lights.
fixed in a weak selenium toner (1+200) two minutes to protect the blacks against the blue toner
MT7 Iron blue toner 4+3+10+4+600ml 2 minutes
With longer toning times at first only the lights and the mid-range would turn from green to blue, after 5-8 minutes the blacks as well.
This is a Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) film camera from 1958 for 120 film. It gives you images of 6x6cm. It's very similar to the Autocord "Export" version with Seikosha-MX shutter but includes a selenium meter as seen here. The light meter is not coupled and it gives you an EV value. Like all Minolta Autocord cameras, it comes with super sharp, legendary Rokkor lenses.

While the color version was lightly edited, this version saw just about every inch of my software. Converted in Silver Efex. It still seemed blah so I moved it to Perfect Effects for added curves work then to Topaz BW Effects for some selenium tone. and back to PE 8 for the border.
Made in the USA in 1958 and listed for $139.50!!! Officially the model C-46.

Well hello Flickr. It is not until you've come back that you realised that you went away, and I now see there was a hiatus. I have been shooting, but not really scanning.
My darkroom work has been very regular (well until recently which might explain the scanning) and it has proved very satisfying. Please find a scan of one of my darkroom prints here. This was a test 8x8 which was on the way to a 12x12
If you are shooting film I highly recommend darkroom work to take you to another level. Ah go on.

Lith print on Seagull warmtone RC paper, with a secondary bath in omega, and final toning in selenium go get the rusty lavender color.
Washi F film is some rebadged old chest x-ray film that lacks an anti-halation layer (although it's not as obvious on this shot as on others).

this was an invitation for a party i had in 1987.
(that is, everyone got a split selenium toned silver print)
i took 4x5 studio strobe-lit polaroids of the party guests and gave them the originals.
I kept the negatives.
Nan Goldin came and I have a great portrait of her.
She was so stoned she has no recollection of being there.
I didn't get her permission, so unfortunately I can't reproduce it :(

In order to judge whether and how the paper texture has an influance on fine details, I have chosen this negative.
